O Finach pisaliśmy już przy okazji ich poprzednich albumów "Alla kirkkaimman tähden" i "Rukous". Kilka dni temu miała premiera ich najnowszego, szóstego już albumu zatytułowanego "Shiva". Przyjrzyjmy się zatem co przygotowali GOATS OF DOOM na tym materiale.
Tytułowe bóstwo Shiva ma głęboką tradycję w hinduiźmie i podejrzewam, że nie jest to dla nikogo nowością. Przedstawiane w wielu postaciach i z przypisanymi mu 1008 imionami jest zapewne inspiracją do tworzenia Czarnej Sztuki. Z tego co udało mi się przetłumaczyć z fińskich liryk zespołu, mamy tu oczywiście do czynienia z Shivą niszczycielem - uosobieniem śmierci. Występują też nawiązania do Trzeciego Oka, które jako mistyczny symbol występuje nie tylko w hinduiźmie. Zresztą, rzut okiem na okładkę i wizualizacja Shivy z kopytami Baphometa w jego charakterystycznej pozie. Zatem, panowie chyba nie do końca przeszli na hinduizm, hehe. Przejdźmy jednak do muzyki. Muzycznie mamy tu oczywiście Black Metal w którym już od pierwszych akordów słychać, że pochodzenie hordy to Finlandia. Przyznam się, że widząc okładkę oraz tytuł tego wydawnictwa, moją pierwszą myślą było czy aby przypadkiem ten element nie zostanie wyeliminowany z ich muzyki. Okazuje się, że nic bardziej mylnego. Fiński Black Metal ma się na "Shiva" bardzo dobrze i atakuje arcy dobrą melodyką. Ta z kolei musiała wyjść spod rąk Finów - pełna znanej nam posępności, ale zarazem podniosła i ostra niczym rytualne ostrze sztyletu. Słuchając "Shiva" dochodzę do wniosku, że GOATS OF DOOM i ich muzyka uległy sporej transformacji, ale zarazem nie uciekła w rejony nam nieznane. Być może Finowie zdefiniowali swoją muzykę na nowo, stawiając tym samym na bardzo rozpoznawalne elementy własnego stylu i niemalże uwypuklając je w każdym z utworów. Porywająca, wspomniana melodyka łączy się wyśmienicie z czystymi wokalami, które wspomagają cholernie ostre i wrzeszczące typowe Black Metalowe krzyki. Wokale te są dla mnie kluczowe i w przypadku hordy znakiem markowym. Jedną z tych cech, po której wiem, że GOATS OF DOOM to GOATS OF DOOM. Utwory Finów są utrzymane raczej w średnich i nieco szybszych tempach, ale nie oznacza to, że zrezygnowano tu z agresji. Album sam w sobie jest nacechowany silną ofensywą bezpośrednich dźwięków, ale owe nawałnice są trochę zakamuflowane w postaci melodyki riffów. Na domiar tego pojawiają się też gitary akustyczne, są też i kobiece wokale, a całość stanowi fantastyczną miksturę doznania czegoś więcej niż tylko 42 minut muzyki. Szczerze polecam, warto!

We have already written about Finns on the occasion of their previous albums "Alla kirkkaimman tähden" and "Rukous". A few days ago, their new, sixth album entitled "Shiva" had its premiere. Let's take a look at what GOATS OF DOOM have prepared on this material.
The title deity Shiva has a deep tradition in Hinduism and I assume that it is not a novelty for anyone. Depicted in many forms and with 1008 names attributed to it, it is presumably the inspiration for the creation of Black Art. From what I was able to translate from the Finnish lyrics of the band, we are obviously dealing here with Shiva the destroyer - the personification of death. There are also references to the Third Eye, which is a mystical symbol not only in Hinduism. Anyway, have a look at the cover and the visualization of Shiva with Baphomet's hooves in its characteristic pose. So, gents probably haven't fully converted to Hinduism, hehe. But let's get to the music. Musically, of course, we have Black Metal here, in which you can hear from the first chords that the origin of the horde is Finland. I must admit that when I saw the cover and title of this release, my first thought was whether by any chance this element will be eliminated from their music. It turns out that nothing more misleading. Finnish Black Metal is doing very well on "Shiva" and attacks with very high melodics. This in turn must have come from the Finns - full of the familiar gloom, but at the same time solemn and sharp as a ritual dagger's blade. Listening to "Shiva" I come to the conclusion, that GOATS OF DOOM and their music have undergone quite a transformation, but at the same time it hasn't escaped into the regions unknown to us. Perhaps the Finns have redefined their music, thus putting a premium on very recognizable elements of their own style and almost highlighting them in each track. The thrilling, aforementioned melodicism blends perfectly with the clean vocals, which are supported by some damn harsh and screaming typical Black Metal screams. Those vocals are crucial to me and in the case of horde a trademark. One of the qualities by which I know GOATS OF DOOM is GOATS OF DOOM. Finns' tracks are kept rather in medium and a bit faster tempos, but it doesn't mean that aggression was given up here. The album itself is characterized by a strong offensive of direct sounds, but these storms are a bit camouflaged in the form of melodic riffs. On top of that there are also acoustic guitars, female vocals and riffs almost romantic in their sound and the whole is a fantastic mixture of experiencing something more than just 42 minutes of music. I sincerely recommend it, it's worth it!
