Tego zespołu starszemu pokoleniu maniaków ekstremalnych dźwięków przedstawiać nie trzeba, bo z pewnością tę nazwę znają choćby ze słyszenia. Młodsze pokolenie może mieć trochę gorzej z kojarzeniem tego zespołu, co ma raczej związek z jego wydawniczym milczeniem przez lata. Początki zespołu można datować na 1994 rok, wtedy zaczął funkcjonować jako IMPERIAL, za sprawą dwóch muzyków - Sasrof i Thorne, to oni połączyli siły by zrodził się ten twór. Jako ciekawostkę, powiem że pierwsza taśma demo, która się ukazała, została nagrana w ciągu dwóch dni w szpitalu psychiatrycznym. Pod nazwą IMPERIAL nagrane zostały trzy materiały demo, aż w roku 1999 zespół zmienił nazwę na obecną. Od tamtej pory w ich dyskografii znajdziemy trzy albumy, płytę kompilacyjną i dwa splity w tym jeden z dobrze znanym zespołem w metalowym świecie - WATAIN.
The Dark Blood Rising (The Hatecrowned Retaliation) to drugi album w dorobku Szwedów, który ukazał się w 2001 roku. Znalazło się na nim jedenaście utworów, których czas trwania nie przekracza czterdziestu pięciu minut. Wydawać by się mogło, że to dość dużo czasu, ale ta muzyka tak dobrze się wchłania, że czas nie gra tu roli. To co wylewa się z głośników to bardzo zimny black metal doskonale połączony z industrialem, co czynie tę muzyczną mieszankę jeszcze bardziej toksyczną i zabójczą. Muzyka ta uderza słuchacza z precyzją robota - maszyny, która nie posiada uczuć i nie zlituje się również na uszach słuchacza, bo chociaż cały czas przewija się w tym materiale melodia, głównie za sprawą syntezatorów, to ekipa z DIABOLICUM jeńców nie bierze. Gdybym miał porównać tę muzykę do innych wykonawców to rzuciłbym tu takimi nazwami jak LIMBONIC ART, MYSTICUM czy jeszcze kilka innych. Tempa jakich możemy doświadczyć na tym krążku oscylują wokół szybkich i średnich. Riffy gitar są ostre niczym ostrze sztyletu wbite głęboko w ciało. Bas zasługuje również na wspomnienie, bo jest świetnie słyszalny i nadaje głębi muzycznej całości. Jak już wcześniej wspomniałem, linii melodyjnej dostarczają tu syntezatory, które brzmią bardzo oryginalnie. Co nie którym może się nie spodobać to, że zastosowano tu automat perkusyjny i nawet słychać jego nieco sztuczne brzmienie, ale moim zdaniem, to właśnie ten element nadaje tego bezlitosnego zimna tej muzyce. W dźwiękach, które z każdym utworem mielą nasze zmysły niczym ochłap mięsa pojawia się sporo sampli co również nadaje tej materii nieludzkiego brzmienia. To wszystko, okraszone jest black metalowym skrzekiem, co zdecydowanie podkreśla ekstremalny charakter tej muzyki. Bardzo wysoko oceniam tę płytę, jeśli macie możliwość by gdzieś ją kupić, nie zastanawiajcie się.

This band does not need to be presented to the older generation of extreme sound maniacs, because they certainly know this name from hearing. The younger generation may have a little bit worse association with this band, which is rather related to its publishing silence for years. The beginnings of the band can be traced back to 1994, when it started to function as IMPERIAL, thanks to two musicians - Sasrof and Thorne, it was they who joined forces to create this work. As a curiosity, I will say that the first demo tape, which was released, was recorded within two days in a psychiatric hospital. Three demo materials were recorded under the name IMPERIAL, until in 1999 the band changed its name to the current one. Since then, their discography has included three albums, a compilation album and two splits, including one with the well known band in the metal world - WATAIN.
The Dark Blood Rising (The Hatecrowned Retaliation) is the second album of the Swedes, which was released in 2001. It features eleven tracks, which are no more than forty-five minutes long. It may seem like quite a lot of time, but this music absorbs so well that time does not play a role here. What is poured out of the speakers is a very cold black metal perfectly combined with industrial, which makes this musical mixture even more toxic and deadly. This music strikes the listener with the precision of a robot - a machine that has no feelings and will not take pity on the listener's ears either, because although there is a melody in this material all the time, mainly due to synthesizers, the team from DIABOLICUM does not take prisoners. If I had to compare this music to other performers, I would throw here names like LIMBONIC ART, MYSTICUM or a few others. The speed we can experience on this album oscillates around fast and medium. Guitar riffs are as sharp as a dagger blade stuck deep into the body. The bass also deserves to be remembered, because it is perfectly audible and gives depth to the musical whole. As I mentioned before, the melodic line is provided here by synthesizers, which sound very original. What may be disliked is that the drum machine is used here and you can even hear its slightly artificial sound, but in my opinion, it is this element that gives this music its merciless cold. In the sounds that grind our senses with every piece of music like a scrap of meat, a lot of samples appear, which also gives this matter an inhuman sound. All of this is covered with black metal vocals, which definitely emphasizes the extreme character of this music. I highly appreciate this record, if you have the opportunity to buy it somewhere, do not hesitate.
