Od kilku lat nagromadziłem dość dużo singli, splitów i EP wydanych na siedmiocalowych winylach. Trochę ten format potrafi zmęczyć, wymuszając dość częste obracanie go na talerzu gramofonu, ale jak muzyka wciągnie, to ta czynność nie stanowi żadnego problemu. Dzisiaj od rana na odsłuchy poleciał split NUNSLAUGHTER / THE LURKING CORPSES. Pierwszy z zespołów to żywa legenda death metalowej sceny, o której już tu pisaliśmy. Pierwsze kroki poczynał pod nazwą DEATH SENTENCE w latach 1985 - 1987, by następnie przybrać obecną. Dyskografię możecie sobie sami podliczyć wyszukując ją na różnych stronach internetowych, ale mam wątpliwości czy metal-archives uporało się z jej zawartością. Drugi zespół, zasilający ten split to amerykański kwartet, istniejący od 2001 roku. Ich muzyka jest trudna do zaszufladkowania. Słychać tu różne wpływy od death metalu, hardcore aż po punk. Split ten niestety nie powala długością materiału, ponieważ cały materiał zmieścił się w czasie poniżej siedmiu minut, a zespoły umieściły na tym krążku po jednym utworze. Może to i mało, ale jednak ta muzyka tak wchodzi w krew, że co chwilę zmieniam stronę płyty, by wciąż odczuwać jej hipnotyzującą moc. Pierwszy utwór na płycie należy do NUNSLAUGHTER, który przyzwyczajając słuchaczy do szybszego tempa, nieco zwolnił, ale ten zabieg spowodował, że muzyka nabrała niebywałego ciężaru jakby na klatce piersiowej leżało sto kilogramów wilgotnej ziemi, a na niej płyta grobowa. Świetne riffy gitar rozpruwają żyły niczym szpony bestii, genialne brzmienie bębnów, narzuca tempo, które ulega zmianie w tym jednym utworze. Wokal brzmi, jakby pochodził z trzewi gnijącego trupa, którego już porządnie nadgryzło wszelkie robactwo. Ta muzyka brzmi jeszcze lepiej, gdy jest słuchana nocą przy blasku świec. Na stronie B swój udział zaznaczył THE LURKING CORPSES - od razu przyznam, że nie znałem wcześniej tego zespołu, ale dzięki temu, że NUNSLAUGHTER nagrywa z wieloma zespołami, które obracają się w różnych klimatach, nawet niekoniecznie związanych z death czy black metalem, można odnaleźć wiele czarnych diamentów. Utwór wykonany przez THE LURKING CORPSES zaczyna się krótkim intro, mającym skojarzenia z horrorem, pojawiają się niepokojące dźwięki, które po chwili przerywa ciężar gitar. Dynamiczne riffy uderzają słuchacza niczym tępy obuch młotka zadający kolejne ciosy w czaszkę. W pewnym momencie przypominają mi nawet inspiracje dokonaniami zespołu NECROPHAGIA, co wywołuje tylko dobre odczucia i napływ sentymentów do tej muzyki, którą lata temu słuchałem niemal bez przerwy. Świetnie zgrana perkusja powoduje odruch tupania nogą, a gitara basowa nadaje niesamowitej głębi. Usłyszymy tu również gitarowe solówki, które bardzo pasują do stylistyki thrash metalu. Wokal to bardzo niski growling, ale pojawiają się też na chwilę wyższe partie growlingu, co sprawia, że głos jest bardzo oryginalny i niepowtarzalny. Jak dla mnie ten materiał, to muzyka, którą trzeba mieć. Te dźwięki uzależniają.

For a few years now, I have accumulated quite a lot of singles, split and EPs released on seven-inch vinyl. This format can tire you out a bit, forcing you to turn it on your turntable quite often, but when the music gets in, it's not a problem. Today from the morning the NUNSLAUGHTER / THE LURKING CORPSES split has been running for listening. The first of the bands is a living legend of death metal scene, about which we have already written here. It started under the name DEATH SENTENCE in 1985 - 1987 and then took its current name. You can count the discography yourself by searching for it on different websites, but I have doubts if the metal-archives has managed to cope with its content. The line-up of the band has been changing in many ways and we will be able to hear the late Jim Sadist on the drums.The second band that contributes to this split is the American team, existing since 2001. Their music is difficult to classify. We can hear various influences from death metal, hardcore to punk. The musicians themselves define their style with horror metal. Their discography includes four splits and four albums. Without extending the introduction, I invite you to the review of the material concentrating the forces of both bands.
Unfortunately, this split does not knock down the length of the material, because the whole is in less than seven minutes and the bands placed one track each on this album. Maybe it's not enough, but this music is so much in my blood that every now and then I change the side of the album to still feel its hypnotizing power. The first track on the album belongs to NUNSLAUGHTER, which, getting the listeners used to a faster pace, slowed down a bit, but this treatment caused the music to take on an incredible weight as if a hundred kilograms of damp earth lay on the chest and a grave slab on it. Great guitar riffs rip the veins out like claws of a beast, the brilliant sound of the drums, imposes a tempo that changes in this one song. The vocal sounds as if it came from the viscera of a rotting corpse, which has already been eaten by all vermin. This music sounds even better when listened to at night by candlelight. On page B, THE LURKING CORPSES - I'll admit straight away, that I didn't know this band before, but thanks to the fact that NUNSLAUGHTER records with many bands that rotate in different atmospheres, even not necessarily related to death or black metal, you can find many black diamonds. The song performed by THE LURKING CORPSES begins with a short intro, having associations with a horror movie, disturbing sounds appear, which after a while break the weight of guitars. Dynamic riffs hit the listener like a blunt hammer hitting both of them on the skull. At some point, they even remind me of the inspiration of NECROPHAGIA's achievements, which only evokes good feelings and an influx of sentiment to this music, which I listened to almost continuously years ago. The perfectly coordinated percussion causes a stomping reflex and the bass guitar gives an incredible depth. You will also hear guitar solos here, which are very much in tune with the thrash metal style. The vocal is a very low growling, but there are also higher parts of growling, which makes the voice very original and unique. As for me this material is music you need to have. These sounds are addictive.
