Całkiem niedawno pisaliśmy tu o nowym albumie EMPHERIS. Nie trzeba było czekać długo, by wziąć na odsłuchy ich najnowsze wydawnictwo, które nagrali wraz z DEATH INVOKER. Dlatego w skrócie przypomnę o pierwszym zespole. To pięcioosobowa horda z Warszawy siejąca pod tą nazwą śmierć i zniszczenie od 2003 roku. Zespół o bogatej dyskografii, wśród której znajdziemy trzy albumy, liczne splity i demosy. DEATH INVOKER to horda pochodząca z Peru, która powstała w 2005 roku, siejąca spustoszenie w podziemiu toksyczną mieszaniną black / death / thrash metalu. Za tworem tym stoi dwóch muzyków. Morbid Devastator i Bestial Lust, z których ten drugi znany jest z udziału w takich zespołach jak: Evil Spectrum, Nekromantik czy Metralla. W 2019 roku wraz z EMPHERIS wydają split, który dostępny jest na CD jak i na kasecie.
Pierwszą część tej płyty rozpoczyna EMPHERIS, krótkim i nie wiele wnoszącym do całości Intrem, w którym całkiem fajnie brzmią klawisze, jednak znając twórczość tego zespołu, spodziewałby się raczej dobrego pierdolnięcia, a nie takiego krótkiego wstępu, który przy kolejnych odsłuchach płyty można sobie po prostu pominąć. Później robi się już przyjemniej. Może tempo utworów nie powala na kolana prędkością, ale gitarowe riffy w thrash black metalowym stylu obdzierają skórę do krwi, a solówki typowe na lata osiemdziesiąte dopełniają swego dzieła wbijając się w czaszkę niczym wiertło w skorodowaną stal. Na wokalu nie można się zawieść, świetnie wpasowuje się w rytm narzucany przez instrumenty i podkręca tylko dynamikę całości muzyki. Poważnym minusem jest niestety czas trwania utworów, które nagrali warszawiacy. Liczyłem, na coś, co będzie trwało o wiele dłużej, a tu dostajemy trzy utwory, które trwają razem ponad siedem minut. Jakoś ciężko to przełknąć, bo jak już zaczyna to wchodzić, to nagle jest koniec i trzeba już pochłaniać utwory drugiego zespołu. Jest nim DEATH INVOKER. Zespół ten również rozpoczyna swoją część od Intro, które bardziej mi podeszło. To również klawisze, jednak wylewa się z nich całkiem wiele mroku, który rozrasta się tylko wraz z kolejnymi utworami. Muzyka jest utrzymana w klimacie black / thrash metalowym, co chwilę zarzuca nas rytmicznymi, szybkimi riffami, wprawiające w ruch stopę, która nie chce przestać wybijać tego rytmu. Perkusja nadaje odpowiedniego tempa tej muzycznej materii, co na pewno sprawdza się pod sceną, gdy wpada się w morderczy młyn jak w amoku. Wszystko to podlane jest wokalem, który rzyga piekłem za pomocą growlingu. Muzyka jest utrzymana w starym stylu, co powoduje, że nie można się na niej zawieźć. Dźwięki są również okraszone szumem, przez prawdopodobnie celowo zrobioną słabą produkcję, co nadaje większej surowości temu materiałowi. Dla mnie taki zabieg w dzisiejszych czasach, to olbrzymi pozytyw, bo nie lubię dopieszczonych i przyjemnych dźwięków. DEATH INVOKER, to żadne zaskoczenie na metalowej scenie, ale dobrze jest posłuchać i się nie zawieźć. Jeśli jeszcze nie macie tego splitu, to polecam po niego sięgnąć i zapoznać się z muzyką nagraną na nim.

Quite recently we wrote here about the new EMPHERIS album. It didn't take long to take their latest release, which they recorded together with DEATH INVOKER, to listen. That's why I'll briefly remind you of the first team. It is a five-man horde from Warsaw sowing death and destruction under this name since 2003. A band with a rich discography, among which we can find three albums, numerous splits and demos. DEATH INVOKER is a horde from Peru, which was founded in 2005, wreaking havoc on the underground with a toxic mixture of black / death / thrash metal. There's two musicians behind this. Morbid Devastator and Bestial Lust, the latter of which is known for their participation in such bands as: Evil Spectrum, Nekromantik or Metralla. In 2019, together with EMPHERIS, they are releasing a split, which is available on CD and on cassette.
The first part of this album starts with EMPHERIS, a short and not much contributing Intro, in which the keyboards sound pretty cool, but knowing the work of this band, one would expect rather a good fucking blast, than such a short introduction, which can be simply omitted during the next listening to the album. It gets more pleasant later on. Maybe the pace of the songs doesn't knock you on your knees with speed, but guitar riffs in thrash black metal style peel your skin to the blood, and the solos typical for the 80s complete their work by hammering into your skull like a drill into corroded steel. You can't be disappointed with the vocal, it fits perfectly into the rhythm imposed by the instruments and only enhances the dynamics of the whole music. A serious disadvantage is unfortunately the duration of the tracks that were recorded by the Warsaw inhabitants. I was hoping for something that would last much longer, and here we get three songs that last together over seven minutes. Somehow it's hard to swallow it, because when it starts to invade you, suddenly it's over and you have to absorb the songs of the other band. This is DEATH INVOKER. This band also starts its part with Intro, which is more appropriate for me. It's also the keys, but there's quite a lot of darkness pouring out of them, which only grows with the next tracks. The music is maintained in a black / thrash metal atmosphere, every now and then, it throws us with rhythmic, fast riffs, setting our foot in motion, which does not want to stop breaking this rhythm. Drums give the right tempo to this musical matter, which certainly works underneath the stage when you fall into a murderous pit as if in amok. All of this is watered down with a vocal that pukes hell out of the growling. The music is kept in the old style, which means you can't get carried away with it. The sounds are also affected by the noise, probably due to deliberately poor production, which makes the material more severe. For me, such a treatment is a huge positive thing nowadays, because I don't like polished and pleasant sounds. DEATH INVOKER, it's no surprise on the metal scene, but it's good to listen and don't get carried away. If you don't have this splice yet, I recommend that you reach for it and get to know the music recorded on it.
