Po raz kolejny udało mi się wygrzebać z metalowego podziemia całkowicie nowy, jednoosobowy, a zarazem niezwykle ciekawy projekt, poruszający się w klimacie surowego black metalu. Tym razem nie jest to nazwa z USA, gdzie do niedawna pojawiało się wiele nazw ze stron zza oceanu. GRANDEUR, to projekt pochodzący z Austrii. Zupełnie nowy, bo powstały w tym roku, zaprezentował się w podziemiu debiutancką EP - Aurea Aetas. W tej chwili nie pozostaje nic innego jak czekanie na nowy materiał, a sądząc po tym jak w wielu projektach udziela się Erech, to nie wykluczone, że jeszcze w tym roku będzie nam dane usłyszeć nowy krążek.
Mówiąc krótko to ta płyta to prawdziwy sztos, z zajebiście wielką energią, która przykuwa uwagę słuchacza do siebie już od pierwszych dźwięków. Na krążku nagrano cztery utwory, o łącznym czasie nie przekraczającym osiemnastu minut. To z czym się tutaj mierzymy, to black metal najwyższych lotów, mocno kojarzący się z melodyjną fińską sceną. Idąc o krok dalej powiem, że momentami bardzo mocno kojarzy mi się z dokonaniami SATANIC WARMASTER (trochę jakbym słuchał Lux Satanae). Jednak nie mam zamiaru pisać, że to plagiat, bo w żadnym stopniu tak nie uważam. Podobieństwa są, owszem, jednak kto nie robi podobieństw? Przynajmniej mogę powiedzieć, że nie zawiodłem się na tej muzyce, bo jest tu całe mnóstwo elementów, które są mi bliskie i już od początku wiedziałem, że nie skończy się na pojedynczym przesłuchaniu. Właśnie ta płyta kręci się w moim odtwarzaczu drugi dzień i nadal mam jakiś niedosyt. Być może jest to spowodowane dość krótkim czasem trwania tej EP. Niestety na to wpływu już nie mam i pozostaje cieszyć się tym co jest. Co do produkcji Aurea Aetas to trzeba przyznać, że jest przejrzysta, na całkiem dobrym poziomie, przez co wszystkie dźwięki są wyraźnie słyszalne. Niesamowite jest to, jak melodia przeplata się z pierwotną agresją, nadając całości oryginalnej, podniosłej atmosfery. Gitary w przewadze poruszają się głównie w sekcji tremolo, czasami pojawia się gitara na czystym kanale. Nadaje to przyjemnego ciepła, jednak jest to chwilowy zabieg, bo ten instrument w większości utrzymuje surowe brzmienie, co moim zdaniem świetnie nadaje się do tego typu muzyki. Na jakąś chwilę pojawia się też gitara z efektem echo, jednak nie za bardzo mi to przypadło do gustu, uważam że efekt ten potrzebny tu jest jak kurwie majtki. Bas świetnie nadaje niskiego tonu, a klawisze budują jednocześnie mroczną i podniosłą atmosferę. Perkusja nie wybija się szczególnie ponad przeciętną, ale nie oznacza to, że jest z nią coś nie tak. Jest poprawnie i dobrze się słucha. Wokal potrafi namieszać. Dokłada tu wiele agresji i wściekłości. Wkomponowuje się w black metalowy wykrzykiwany skrzek, kojarzący się nieco z depresyjnym black metalem z połowy lat dziewięćdziesiątych. Jak dla mnie to strzał w dziesiątkę, lub jak kto woli - prosto w łeb. Jak już wcześniej wspomniałem, ten krążek zbyt szybko nie opuści mojego odtwarzacza, więc zachęcam do zapoznania się z tym krążkiem.

Once again I managed to dig out from the metal underground a brand new, one-man, and at the same time extremely interesting project, moving in the style of raw black metal. This time it's not a name from the USA, where until recently many names from across the ocean appeared. GRANDEUR is a project coming from Austria. Completely new, because formed this year, presented itself in the underground with a debut EP - Aurea Aetas. At the moment there is nothing else to do but to wait for a new material, and judging by the fact that Erech participates in many projects, it is not excluded that still this year we will hear a new album.
In short, this album is a real blast, with awesome energy, which grabs the listener's attention from the very first sounds. There are four tracks on the album, with a total running time of no more than eighteen minutes. What we are dealing with here is black metal of the highest order, strongly associated with the melodic Finnish scene. Going one step further, I'd say that at times it reminds me very strongly of the achievements of SATANIC WARMASTER (a bit like listening to Lux Satanae). However, I'm not going to write that it's plagiarism, because I don't consider it so. There are similarities, yes, but who doesn't make similarities? At least I can say that I was not disappointed with this music, because there are a lot of elements that are close to me and I knew from the beginning that it will not end with a single hearing. This very CD is playing in my player for the second day and I still have some unsatisfaction. Perhaps it is due to the rather short duration of this EP. Unfortunately, I have no impact on that anymore and it remains to enjoy what is. As for the production of Aurea Aetas, I have to admit that it is clear, on a pretty good level, which makes all the sounds clearly audible. It is amazing how melody intertwines with primal aggression, giving the whole an original, solemn atmosphere. The guitars mostly move in the tremolo section, with an occasional guitar on the clean channel. It gives a nice warmth, but it is a temporary measure, because this instrument mostly keeps a raw sound, which in my opinion is perfect for this type of music. For a while there is also a guitar with an echo effect, but I did not like it very much, I think that this effect is needed here like a whore's panties. The bass gives a great low tone and the keys build a dark and solemn atmosphere at the same time. The drums don't particularly stand out above the average, but it doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with it. It is correct and good to listen to. Vocals can stir things up. It adds a lot of aggression and rage. It blends in with the black metal shouting, a bit reminiscent of the depressive black metal of the mid-nineties. As far as I'm concerned, it's a shot in a bull's eye, or if you prefer, straight to the head. As I mentioned earlier, this album will not leave my player too soon, so I encourage you to familiarize yourself with it.
