Od kilku dni w moim odtwarzaczu kręci się najnowsze wydawnictwo GRANSKOG - ukraińskiego projektu, w którym za wszystkie sznurki pociąga muzyk o pseudonimie Grom. Projekt według informacji zaczerpniętych w sieci jest zawieszony, a owa kompilacja ukazała się w tym roku za pośrednictwem wrocławskiej wytwórni Werewolf Promotion. GRANSKOG istnieje od 2005 roku, ale już w latach 2002 - 2003 funkcjonował pod nazwą MORGUL SHARD. Oprócz kompilacji projekt ten posiada na swoim koncie kilka materiałów demo i dwa splity. Niestety nie ma żadnego dłuższego materiału, dlatego kompilacja w tym przypadku jest bardzo dużym plusem, bo skupia w sobie dorobek artystyczny z przełomu piętnastu lat.
Na materiał kompilacyjny Carpathian Outlaws – 15 Years of Bukowinian Pagan Madness umieszczono osiemnaście utworów, których łączny czas trwania wynosi ponad pięćdziesiąt cztery minuty. Od razu muszę przyznać, że jest całkiem pozytywnie zaskoczył mnie ten krążek. To co sączy się z głośników, to black metal z pogańskim, niespokojnym duchem. Czuć tu mroczny gęsty las, rządny świętej krwi. Chociaż tempa utrzymane w średnich prędkościach, to muzyka nie bierze jeńców. Jest bezkompromisowa i dzika. Właśnie taką dzikość lubię w muzyce. Niby jest melodyjnie, ale też bez przesady. Nikt przy tym nie będzie skakał jak jakiś pajac. Przy okazji muzykę nagrano w dość surowy, nieco obskurny sposób, a z drugiej strony wszelkie dźwięki wydobyte z instrumentów są dobrze słyszalne, co z pewnością zawdzięczamy dobrej produkcji. Mówiąc o surowości w muzyce na Carpathian Outlaws mam na myśli to, że słychać tu brak poprawek i jest to również całkiem ciekawy zabieg, przez co materia muzyczna staje się bardziej szczera i trafia to do mnie z większą siłą, ze swoistym wewnętrznym ogniem. Na krążku pojawiły się również dwa covery - GOATMOON oraz FULLMOON. Dzięki tym utworom wyszło jeszcze bardziej diabelsko, a z drugiej strony zachowano cały ten charakter brzmienia, które wyróżnia GRANSKOG. Riffy gitar pojawiają się w formie tremolo oraz rytmicznej, co z jednej strony buduje melodię, a z drugiej nadaje mocniejszego uderzenia i charakteru. Miejscami pojawia się gitara na czystym kanale, a także gitara akustyczna, która wnosi dużo ciepła, dzięki czemu materiał jest bardzo oryginalny i zapada mocno w pamięci. Bas nadaje głębi, co sprawia, że jest jeszcze bardziej mrocznie. Perkusja również świetnie wyszła, nadając swym brzmieniem wiele agresji w szybszych partiach. Absolutnie nie ma się do czego przyczepić, bo słucha się tego z dużą dawką przyjemności. Wokal bardzo gardłowy, z charakterystycznym skrzeczeniem. Teksty wykrzyczane są w języku ukraińskim, a to nadaje takiego mocno pogańskiego charakteru. W głosie tym jest mnóstwo pierwotnej siły, przez co cała muzyka płonie czarnym ogniem. Jeżeli jeszcze nie mieliście okazji zapoznać się z twórczością GRANSKOG, to koniecznie zwróćcie uwagę na Carpathian Outlaws – 15 Years of Bukowinian Pagan Madness.

For a couple of days my player has been playing the newest release of GRANSKOG - Ukrainian project in which a musician called Grom is pulling all strings. According to the information on the net the project is suspended and this compilation was released this year via Werewolf Promotion label from Wroclaw. GRANSKOG exists since 2005, but already in the years 2002-2003 it functioned under the name MORGUL SHARD. Apart from compilations the project has a few demos and two splits on its account. Unfortunately, there is no longer material, so compilation in this case is a big plus, because it concentrates artistic output from the turn of fifteen years.
The compilation material Carpathian Outlaws - 15 Years of Bukovinian Pagan Madness features eighteen tracks with a total duration of over fifty-four minutes. Right away I have to admit that I was positively surprised by this CD. What oozes from the speakers is black metal with a pagan, restless spirit. You can feel the dark dense forest, hungry for holy blood. Although the tempos are kept at medium speed, the music takes no prisoners. It is uncompromising and wild. That's the kind of wildness I like in music. It seems to be melodious but without exaggeration. No one will be jumping around like a clown. By the way, the music was recorded in a quite harsh, a bit dirty way, but on the other hand all the sounds made by the instruments are well audible, which I'm sure is due to the good production. Speaking of rawness in the music on Carpathian Outlaws, I mean that you can hear the lack of corrections here, and this is also quite an interesting procedure, which makes the musical matter more honest and hits me with more force, with a kind of internal fire. There are also two covers on the album - GOATMOON and FULLMOON. Thanks to these songs, it turned out to be even more devilish, and on the other hand, all the character of the sound that distinguishes GRANSKOG was preserved. Guitar riffs appear in tremolo and rhythm form, which on the one hand builds up the melody, and on the other gives a stronger beat and character. Sometimes a guitar appears on a clean channel, as well as an acoustic guitar, which brings a lot of warmth, making the material very original and memorable. The bass adds depth, which makes it even more dark. The drums are also great, giving their sound a lot of aggression in the faster parts. There is absolutely nothing to complain about, because you can listen to it with a large dose of pleasure. Vocals are very throaty, with characteristic squawking. The lyrics are shouted in Ukrainian, which gives it a strongly pagan character. There is a lot of primal power in this voice, which makes the whole music burn with black fire. If you haven't had a chance to get acquainted with GRANSKOG's work yet, you should definitely pay attention to Carpathian Outlaws - 15 Years of Bukovinian Pagan Madness.
