BAPTISM to projekt, o którym chyba każdy słuchacz cięższej muzyki słyszał, o ile nie ma jakiegoś albumu na półce. Za jego sterami od 1998 roku stoi niezmiennie Lord Sargofagian. Chociaż jest to jednoosobowy projekt to do współpracy są zapraszani różni muzycy, którzy spełniają artystyczne zachcianki Lorda Sargofagiana. Podobnie było z ostatnim albumem gdzie do nagrania płyty zostało zaproszonych kilku artystów znanych głównie z HORNA i DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED, a także z innych zespołów, których nie będę tu przytaczał. The Devil's Fire już na pierwszy rzut oka wyróżnia się swoją oprawą graficzną, jest nieco inna niż poprzednie wydawnictwa i nastawia pozytywnie swoim minimalizmem i prostotą. Dźwięki wylewające się z głośników to na początku krótkie Intro. Później zaczyna się ostrzej. Gitary są utrzymane w partiach tremolo, ale jest też sporo partii rytmicznych, które zwalniając, przełamują muzykę, co świetnie wpada w ucho. Zespoły z Finlandii wypracowały w sobie taki odruch, że co by nie grali, to jest w tym mocno zakorzeniona melodia. Podobnie dzieje się z tym albumem. Gitarom wtóruje wokal - raz jest to klasyczny chropowaty głos, z którym spotykamy się często w podobnych produkcjach, ale innym razem otrzymujemy tu wokal czysty, który na prawdę śpiewa i muszę przyznać, że śpiewa bardzo dobrze. Gdyby nie ta ekstremalna forma, jaką utrzymuje ten projekt, to z powodzeniem ten album mógłby być bardziej komercyjny. Na szczęście nie jest. Perkusja narzuca w nim szybkie tempa, ale tam gdzie pojawia się więcej melodii to tempo nieco zwalnia. Pojawiają się też partie klawiszowe, ale ja tu bardziej skupiłem uwagę na gitarach niż na delikatniejszym tle. Na płycie zmieściło się osiem utworów, ale jakoś tak szybko się kończą. Nie odczuwa się upływu tych ponad 45 minut świetnej muzyki.

BAPTISM is a project that probably every listener of heavier music has heard about, probably having their album on the shelf. Since 1998 Lord Sargofagian has always been at its helm. Although it is a one-man project, various musicians who fulfill Lord Sargofagian's artistic desires are invited to cooperate. It was similar with the last album where several artists known mainly from HORNA and DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED, as well as from other bands, which I will not quote here, were invited to record the album. Here are a few words about the last album of the Finns.
The Devil's Fire is a little bit different from previous releases and has a positive attitude with its minimalism and simplicity. Sounds pouring out of the speakers are short Intro at first. Then it starts to get sharper. Guitars are maintained in tremolo, but there are also a lot of rhythmic parts, which, when slowing down, break the music, which is very good to hear. The bands from Finland have developed such a sense of reflex that whatever they play, there is a strong melody rooted in it. The same is happening with this album. Although at first the guitar riffs do not announce that it will be nice here, after some time the melody releases from the guitars in the form of fancy solos. Guitars are accompanied by vocals - once it's a classic rough voice, which we often meet in similar productions, but another time we get pure vocal here, which really sings and I must admit that it sings very well. If it wasn't for the extreme form that this project maintains, this album could have been more commercially successful. Fortunately, it is not. The percussion imposes fast speeds, but where more melodies appear, the pace slows down a bit. There are also keyboard parts, but I've focused more on guitars than on the more delicate background. There are eight tracks on the album, but somehow they end so quickly. You don't feel the passage of these over 45 minutes of great music.
