Black Metal ze Stanów Zjednoczonych. Założę się, że jeszcze 10 lat temu spora liczba osób by się krzywiła na taką wiadomość odgórnie zakładając średni lub niższy poziom muzyki z jaką trzeba się tu zderzyć. Czasy się zmieniają, światowa scena również się zmienia i choć nie zawsze na dobre, tak HERETICAL SECT zdecydowanie można ulokować po wartościowej stronie naszego równania. Jak do tej pory (początek października 2021) zespół ma na swoim koncie jedną EPkę i omawiany album. Miejmy nadzieję, że panowie pójdą za ciosem i wkrótce nagrają kolejne dzieło, bo takim bez wątpienia jest dla mnie "Rapturous Flesh Consumed".
Sześć utworów trwa niemal 37 minut. Zacznijmy od tego, że nie usłyszymy tutaj prostych riffów rażących prymitywizmem wczesnych lat '90-tych. Jeśli miałbym przywołać tutaj jakiekolwiek porównania to powiedziałbym, że słyszę tu wyraźne echa Deathspell Omega, ale bardziej pod kątem stworzonej przez Amerykanów atmosfery. Nie jest to zapewne tak skomplikowane granie jak w przypadku Francuzów z Finem na wokalu, ale ta niepokojąca aura właśnie przywołuje takie a nie inne skojarzenia. Utwory HERETICAL SECT są bardzo dobrze zaaranżowane, a ich rozbudowana forma wciąga przykuwając uwagę. Prędkości, jak to bywa w przypadku takiej stylistyki, są zróżnicowane. Trzeba sobie jasno powiedzieć, że zespół radzi sobie bardzo, ale to bardzo konkretnie w jakiejkolwiek odsłonie. Jednakże, na szczególna uwagę zwracają na siebie powolne tempa, bardziej hipnotyczne i mające w sobie ten element ohydy, jakiegoś dramatyzmu, który można by tu nawet podpiąć pod Doom Metal. Smolistość całości tylko zagęszcza soniczne doznania. Partie grane techniką tremolo dają ułudę znalezienia się w wężowym dole, gdzie setki gadów bezkompromisowo rzucają się na ciało ofiary. Nie wiem jak mogę to inaczej opisać, ale w tej muzyce znalazł się zalążek, pierwiastek czegoś silnie paskudnego i zrobionego z rozmachem niczym kinowa produkcja. Co więcej, pomimo tych doznań nie ma tu absolutnie mowy o dążeniu lub próbie podbijania main streamu. Kolejną bardzo udaną cechą są tu wokale, władcze niczym wydające rozkazy i tym samym stojące siłą. Konglomerat tychże cech i elementów, tylko z pozoru mogących nie pasować do siebie, tworzy absolutnie fantastyczną i diaboliczną muzykę. Z tym albumem trzeba się zapoznać.

Black Metal from the United States. I bet that even 10 years ago a lot of people would have shuddered at such a news assuming an average or lower level of music to be encountered here. Times change, the world scene changes too and although not always for the better, HERETICAL SECT can definitely be placed on the valuable side of our equation. So far (beginning of October 2021) the band has on its account one EP and the discussed album. Let's hope that the gents will follow the blow and soon they will record another masterpiece, because such for me is undoubtedly "Rapturous Flesh Consumed".
Six tracks last almost 37 minutes. Let's start from the fact that we won't hear here any simple riffs blatant with the primitivism of the early '90s. If I were to make any comparisons here, I would say that I can hear clear echoes of Deathspell Omega, but more in terms of the atmosphere created by the Americans. It's probably not as complicated as in the case of the French with Finn on vocals, but this unsettling aura evokes such associations. The tracks of HERETICAL SECT are very well arranged and their extended form draws your attention. The speeds, as it happens in case of such stylistics, are varied. It has to be clearly stated that the band manages to be very, very precise in whatever they play. However, what draws your attention are slow tempos, more hypnotic and having that element of hideousness, some kind of drama, which could even be placed here under Doom Metal. The tariness of the whole only thickens the sonic experience. Parts played with tremolo technique give the impression of being in a snake pit, where hundreds of reptiles uncompromisingly throw themselves on the body of the victim. I do not know how else I can describe it, but in this music there was a seed, an element of something strongly nasty and made on a grand scale like a cinema production. What's more, despite these sensations, there is absolutely no question of aiming or trying to conquer the main stream. Another very successful feature here are the vocals, commanding as if giving orders and thus standing strong. The conglomerate of these features and elements, only seemingly incompatible, creates absolutely fantastic and diabolical music. This album is a must get acquainted with.
