Kanadyjski KINGS ROT zadebiutował pełnym albumem tego roku i zapewne za wiele osób nie zauważyło tego faktu. Cóż, o ile można mówić o podziemiu w dobie Internetu, to zespół ten jak najbardziej plasuje się w tym rejonie. Trójka Kanadyjczyków gra całkiem składny, porządnie zaaranżowany Black Metal i wydaje mi się, że nieco większa uwaga "The Shadow of the Accursed" by się przydała. Kilka spostrzeżeń z odsłuchu znajdziecie poniżej, zapraszam.
KINGS ROT oferuje na "The Shadow of the Accursed" osiem utworów o łącznym czasie trwania niemal pięćdziesięciu minut. Utwory są zróżnicowane i znajdziemy tu czterominutowe ciosy, ale znajdą się też molochy pokroju zamykającego album "Father of Ash, Lord of Despair" trwającego ponad dwanaście minut. Stylistyka jaką obrał sobie zespół na celownik to melodyjny Black Metal o całkiem niezłej produkcji. Ta z kolei, stojąc z dala od cukierkowych brzmień main streamu, zaskakuje niemałą świeżością i autentycznością wylewających się dźwięków. Co jest warte podkreślenia to budowa utworów. Odnoszę wrażenie, że ta trójka bardzo czuje to co gra i nie jest to jeden z tych albumów zrobionych 'na siłę'. Melodyjność i przystępność tych utworów w niczym nie ujmuje oddanego klimatu magii czy krain Tolkiena po których to zespół w swoich lirykach się porusza. Ok, być może temat dla wielu budzi uśmiech politowania bądź uważa się go za kompletnie wyeksploatowany - tym bardziej radzę wam zapoznać się z tym materiałem celem uzmysłowienia sobie własnego błędu. Jest z jednej strony pompatycznie, ale słychać w tych utworach nienawiść, ale przede wszystkim mrok. Album jest do cna mroczny. Sama muzyka jest od strony technicznej opiera się nade wszystko na riffach tremolo generujących świetną melodykę, choć w szybszych partiach utworów znajdziemy też sporo gry akordami. Pojawią się też partie akustyczne. Dobrym rozwiązaniem jest również uniknięcie klawiszy i zbudowanie całości atmosfery na podstawowym 'metalowym' instrumentarium. Partie basu są świetnie wyeksponowane. Perkusja ma sporo do zaoferowania, a przede wszystkim zachwyciło mnie jej naturalne brzmienie!!! No i wokale - od BM krzyków po growle oraz ciekawy zabieg nakładania pogłosu / echa na niektóre krzyki -> dające wrażenie jakby ten demoniczny wokal wydobywał się z jakiejś głębi.
Materiał nad podziw konkretny. Słucha się go dobrze, a energia jaką niesie jest jak katalizator siły - pełne skupienie i nie da się od niego oderwać. Frazes powtarzany wielokokrotnie, ale bardzo polecam, warto!

Canada's KINGS ROT debuted with a full-length album this year and probably too many people didn't notice. Well, as far as one can talk about the underground in the age of the Internet, this band falls in that area as much as possible. The three Canadians play quite composed, decently arranged Black Metal and I think that a bit more attention to "The Shadow of the Accursed" would have been useful. Some insights from listening can be found below, I invite you to do so.
KINGS ROT offers on "The Shadow of the Accursed" eight tracks with a total playing time of almost fifty minutes. The tracks are varied and you will find here four-minute-long blasts, but there will also be some moloch like the album-closing "Father of Ash, Lord of Despair" lasting over twelve minutes. The style the band has chosen is melodic Black Metal with pretty good production. This one, in turn, standing far from candy sounds of the main stream, surprises with considerable freshness and authenticity of the pouring out sounds. What is worth emphasizing is the construction of the tracks. I have the impression that the three of lads really feel what they are playing and this is not one of those albums made 'by force'. Melodiousness and accessibility of these tracks in no way takes away from the atmosphere of magic or Tolkien's lands, in which the band moves in their lyrics.Ok, maybe for many people the subject evokes a smile of pity or is considered to be completely exploited - the more so I advise you to familiarize yourself with this material in order to realize your own mistake. It is on the one hand pompous, but you can hear hatred in these songs, but above all darkness. The album is dark to the core. The music itself is technically based on tremolo riffs generating great melodics, although in the faster parts of the tracks you will also find a lot of chord playing. There are also acoustic parts. It is also a good solution to avoid keyboards and build the whole atmosphere on basic 'metal' instruments. The bass parts are well exposed. The drums have a lot to offer, and most of all I was impressed by their natural sound!!! And then there are the vocals - from BM screams to growls and an interesting way of putting reverb / echo on some screams -> giving the impression that this demonic vocal comes out of some depth.
The material is very concrete. You listen to it well and the energy it carries is like a catalyst of power - full concentration and you can't tear yourself away from it. A cliché repeated many times, but I highly recommend it, it's worth it!
