Szósty album Black Metalowej hordy z Australii, który ukazał się po siedmiu latach przerwy od poprzedniego albumu (nie wliczając w to kompilacji wydanej w 2019 roku), konkretnie mi namieszał. Nie dość, że wszystkie poprzednie albumy mocno szanuję i stoją obowiązkowo na półce, tak w przypadku "Revenant" słuchałem jego zawartości z otwartą gębą.
Balam - głównodowodzący - który od ładnych kilku lat również udziela się w moim ulubionym tworze z Australii, a mianowicie Drowning The Light, nagrał z ekipą naprawdę solidny, spójny i na wysokim poziomie album. Sześć utworów trwających czterdzieści trzy minuty, to faktyczna uczta dla Black Metalowych maniaków, którzy cenią sobie dobre aranżacje, brak chaotyczności i duży nacisk na atmosferę wykreowaną bez potrzeby użycia klawiszy. "Revenant" to nawiedzony album, tak. Można tu dyskutować o tym, czym dla kogo jest nawiedzenie w muzyce, ale jakby nie spojrzeć, ten album nosi znamiona owej cechy. Drugą sprawą jest wiszące widmo śmierci, które wychyla swój kościsty łeb z każdego z utworów. Czuć obecność Zła. Czuć obecność niezrozumiałego. W mojej opinii są to kluczowe elementy w muzyce Australijczyków. Poza tym, sam tytuł już nakierowuje nas na kreowaną tu aurę i szczerze polecam zapoznać się z tematem. Black Metal stworzony na "Revenant" to muzyka przemyślana, ale kierowana wielce emocjami: melancholia, nienawiść, odraza, pogarda, strach i martwota. Duży wpływ na taki obrót mają tu wokale, które momentami przechodząc w niemal desperacką barwę, wywołują poczucie agonii i bezsilności. Jednakże, żeby uniknąć 'pomówień', album nie ma nic wspólnego z depresyjną stylistyką. Owszem, te naleciałości mogą się bezwiednie pojawić, ale są to elementy wplecione w pełen obraz, w wizję tego co przedstawia nam "Revenant". Gitary w głównej mierze poruszają się w technice tremolo, jest też sporo agresywnych riffów granych akordami. Niemniej jednak to właśnie melodyka tremola odgrywa tu znaczącą rolę. Bas wraz z perkusją nadaję niesamowitej dynamiki, czuć jak ta machina brnie naprzód, torując sobie bezpardonowo drogę. Większość czasu zderzymy się z szybkimi partiami, ale są też zwolnienia. Właściwie to, sięgajcie po ten album, sami się przekonajcie, ale w moim odczuciu mamy tu do czynienia z niemałym arcydziełem.

The sixth album of the Black Metal horde from Australia, which was released after a gap of eight years since the previous album (not including the compilation released in 2019), really made me high. Not only do I respect all the previous albums and they're obligatory on the shelf, but in the case of "Revenant" I listened to its contents with my mouth open.
Balam - the leader - who for quite a few years has also been involved in my favourite Australian creation, namely Drowning The Light, recorded a really solid, coherent and high quality album. Six tracks lasting forty three minutes is a real feast for Black Metal maniacs, who appreciate good arrangements, lack of chaos and great emphasis on the atmosphere created without the need of using keyboards. "Revenant" is a haunted album, yes. We can discuss what haunting is in music for whom, but this album bears the hallmarks of that trait, no matter how you look at it. The second thing is the hanging spectre of death, which sticks its bony head out of each track. You can feel the presence of Evil. You can feel the presence of the incomprehensible. In my opinion, these are the key elements in the Australians' music. Besides, the title itself already directs us to the aura created here and I sincerely recommend getting familiar with the subject. Black Metal created on "Revenant" is a well-thought-out music, but driven by a lot of emotions: melancholy, hatred, disgust, contempt, fear and deadness. Vocals have a big influence on this turn of events, sometimes going into almost desperate tones, evoking a sense of agony and helplessness. However, to avoid 'slander', the album has nothing to do with depressive stylistics. Yes, these traces may appear unknowingly, but these elements are woven into the full picture, into the vision of what "Revenant" presents to us. The guitars mainly use tremolo technique, there are also a lot of aggressive riffs played with chords. Nevertheless, it is the tremolo melody that plays a significant role here. The bass together with the drums gives an incredible dynamics, you can feel how this machine is moving forward, paving its way ruthlessly. Most of the time we will collide with fast parts, but there are also slowdowns. Actually, reach for this album and see for yourself, but in my opinion we are dealing here with quite a masterpiece.
