Całkiem niedawno wspominałem letnie festiwale sprzed lat. Jako że trwa w najlepsze pandemia, uniemożliwiająca odbiór muzyki na żywo, z niekrytym apetytem wybrałbym się na cokolwiek metalowego. Wracając jednak do wspomnień, kilka lat temu poznałem muzykę australijskiej, niestety już nie istniejącej kapeli - EREBUS ENTHRONED i chociaż kojarzyłem split, który wydali z BLAZE OF PERDITION, to jednak od ich koncertu zaczęło się pewne uwielbienie dla ich muzyki. Zespół był aktywny między 2006 a 2015 rokiem i w tym okresie nagrał dwa albumy i kilka mniejszych wydawnictw, w tym wspomniany już split z BOP. Niestety już pewnie nie będzie okazji zobaczyć tych australijskich diabłów na scenie, na szczęście pozostały wspomnienia i płyty na półce.
Night's Black Angel, to album, który ukazał się w 2011 roku. Upchnięto na nim dziewięć utworów, które łącznie trwają blisko czterdzieści minut. Muzyka, jaką wykreowała ta kapela, bardzo dobrze wpasowuje się w klimaty szwedzkiego black metalu, z MARDUKiem na czele. Zaskakuje również to, że muzyka nie jest aż tak surowa na black metal przystało, a dość mocno prze w stronę atmosferycznego grania. Jest tu dużo melodii i jeszcze więcej agresji, która uwalnia się w szybkich tempach. Maniacy szwedzkiego black metalu z pewnością nie zawiodą się na tym albumie. Diabeł tkwi w szczegółach, więc z pewnością nie będzie to zaskoczeniem, że tempa są w tym materiale zmienne, jednakże wściekłość nie ulatuje ani na chwilę z tej muzyki. Ta płyta kręci się ciągle w odtwarzaczu i raz za razem ponownie jest odtwarzana, pełne uwielbienie z mojej strony. Kiedy już ją odłożycie na półkę, to na pewno będziecie do niej wracać często, bo hipnotyzuje swoją czernią. Przyciąga, kusi i prowadzi ku zatraceniu. Riffy na przemian poruszają się po szybkim tremolo, by za chwilę przeskoczyć do sekcji rytmicznej, ukazując moc i potęgę tej muzyki. Gitara basowa sprawia, że wszystko staje się jeszcze bardziej mroczne i ciężkie jak zwłoki w czarnym worku. Perkusja nadaje sporego tempa i dorzuca agresji. Jej zarejestrowany dźwięk daleki od perfekcji, ale mi odpowiada taka jakość, w której da się usłyszeć brud. Wokal jest suchy, chropowaty i nie do końca jest to skrzek, do którego przyzwyczaiłem się, słuchając wielu black metalowych płyt. Świetnie radzi sobie w pluciu jadem i wściekłych szybszych partiach, a jednak potrafi wykrzesać sporo melodii, która mnie zaskakuje i porywa w zaświaty, gdzie kroczy Śmierć z ponurym wyrazem twarzy. Jak da mnie, jest to jedna z ważniejszych pozycji, do której powracam po latach z takim samym entuzjazmem, jak przy pierwszym odsłuchaniu.

Quite recently I recalled summer festivals from years ago. As the pandemic is in full swing, making it impossible to listen to live music, I would have been eager to see anything metal live. Coming back to the memories though, a few years ago I got acquainted with the music of an Australian band, unfortunately no longer existing - EREBUS ENTHRONED, and although I was familiar with the split they released with BLAZE OF PERDITION, it was from their live show that a certain adoration for their music began. The band was active between 2006 and 2015 and during that time they recorded two albums and several smaller releases, including the aforementioned split with BOP. Sadly, there probably won't be an opportunity to see these Australian devils on stage again, thankfully there are memories and albums left on the shelf.
Night's Black Angel is an album that came out in 2011. It is crammed with nine tracks that total nearly forty minutes. The music created by this band fits very well into the atmosphere of Swedish black metal, with MARDUK at the forefront. Surprisingly, the music is not as harsh as black metal should be, but it's quite strong in the direction of atmospheric playing. There is a lot of melody and even more aggression, which is released in fast tempos. Maniacs of Swedish black metal will certainly not be disappointed with this album. The devil is in the details, so it will certainly not be a secret that the tempos are variable in this material, but the fury does not escape even for a moment from this music. This album spins constantly in the player and is played again and again, complete adoration on my part. Once you put it on the shelf, you will surely come back to it often, because it hypnotizes with its blackness. It attracts, tempts and leads to perdition. Riffs move alternately on fast tremolo, to jump in a moment to the rhythm section, showing the power and strength of this music. The bass guitar makes everything even more dark and heavy like a corpse in a black bag. The drums give a lot of pace and add aggression. Its recorded sound is far from perfection, but I like the quality where you can hear the dirt. The vocals are dry, harsh and not quite the screech I'm used to from many black metal albums. He's great at spitting venom and furious faster parts, and yet he's able to wring out a lot of melody that surprises me and takes me to the beyond, where Death walks with a grim expression on its face. As for me, it is one of the most important albums which I return to after years with the same enthusiasm as when listening to it for the first time.
