ARCHAIST to zespół (lub projekt) pochodzący z Austrii i właściwie reszta informacji odnośnie tej nazwy pozostaje nieznana. W 2018 roku ukazała się EP, na dwunasto calowym winylu pod skrzydłami Altare Productions, a po dwóch latach doczekaliśmy się premiery na CD. Niestety Cosmogonic Eyes jak dotąd, to jedyne dzieło w dyskografii tej kapeli, a muzyka zaprezentowana na tym materiale to nie byle co, tylko porządny black metal, do którego włożono serce i duszę, oraz sporo umiejętności muzycznych. To płyta, która wymusza niecierpliwe oczekiwanie na następne dokonania, bo kto wie, może zespół pójdzie jeszcze bardziej do przodu, a tego właśnie bym chciał.
Już na samym początku powiem, że Cosmogonic Eyes to materiał, który głęboko wbił mnie w ziemię, sprawiając że dźwięki, których doznałem wrosły we mnie niczym korzenie trującego krzewu. Świetna dynamika, szybkie i średnie tempa, agresja perfekcyjnie wymieszana z mrocznymi melodiami - wszystko to sprawiło, że ta EP stała się jednym z najciekawszych odkryć w 2020 roku. Znalazło się na niej pięć utworów, których czas trwania wynosi niewiele ponad 31 minut. Riffy gitar oparte o klasyczne dla gatunku tremolo przybiera raz bardziej agresywne brzmienie, raz bardziej melancholijne, ale zawsze jest to na wysokim poziomie. Podczas zwolnień tempa pojawia się sekcja rytmiczna, nadająca mrocznej atmosfery i monumentalnego ciężaru. Perkusja dodaje agresji, pojawiają się dość często momenty blastujące, dzięki czemu całość robi się zimna i bezlitosna. Podobnie bezlitośnie wypada wokal, który jest skrzekliwy i jadowity, czuć w nim wściekłość, chociaż chwilami łagodnieje przechodząc w czystą formę. To co wydaje mi się najciekawsze w tej całej atmosferycznej otoczce, to dodatkowy instrument, którym są skrzypce. Dźwięki, które wydają wprowadzają w obłęd, bo tworzą niesamowity kontrast przepięknie wygrywanej muzyki, która jakimś cudem pasuje do tej groteskowej reszty. Pojawia się również syntezator, który w większości występuje bardziej w tle, ale zdarza się że jest wysunięty do przodu, gdy trzeba mocniej podkreślić melodię. Dla mnie fantastyczny materiał. Liczę na to, że ARCHAIST będzie kontynuował swoją pracę w nagrywaniu kolejnych wydawnictw, bo z absolutną chęcią posłucham kolejnego krążka.

The ARCHAIST is a group (or project) from Austria and the rest of the information about the name remains unknown. In 2018, an EP was released on twelve-inch vinyl under the wings of Altare Productions, and two years later, we have a CD release. Unfortunately, Cosmogonic Eyes is the only work in the band's discography so far, and the music presented on this material is not just a piece of work, but a decent black metal with heart and soul, and a lot of musical skills. It's a record that forces us to wait impatiently for the next achievements, because who knows, maybe the band will go even further, and this is what I would like.
I'll say at the very beginning that Cosmogonic Eyes is a piece of material that has deeply knocked me into the ground, making the sounds I've experienced grow into me like the roots of a poisonous plant. Great dynamics, fast and medium tempo, aggression perfectly mixed with dark melodies - all this made this EP one of the most interesting discoveries in 2020. It features five tracks with a duration of just over 31 minutes. Riffs of guitars based on classical for the genre tremolo takes on a more aggressive sound, a more melancholic one, but it is always on a high level. When the pace slows down, a rhythm section appears, giving a gloomy atmosphere and a monumental weight. Drums add aggression, blasted moments appear quite often, making the whole thing cold and merciless. Similarly, the vocal is mercilessly loud and venomous, feeling rage in it, although at times it softens and turns into pure form. What seems to me the most interesting in this whole atmospheric setting is the additional instrument, which is the violin. The sounds it produces are maddening because they create an incredible contrast of beautifully played music, which somehow fits in with the rest of the grotesque. There is also a synthesizer, which mostly appears more in the background, but it happens to be pushed forward when you need to do it harder to highlight the melody. For me, a fantastic material. I hope that ARCHAIST will continue his work in recording the next releases, because I am absolutely willing to listen to the next album.
