Holendrzy z BOAL szybko zwinęli żagle i zakończyli swoją działalność. A może nie tyle co szybko, ale zbyt wieloma wydawnictwami nas nie uraczyli. Nie wiem co miało wpływ na aż taką hibernację zespołu, ale przyznać trzeba, że od 2012 do 2019 jeden album i EPka, to niewiele. Tym bardziej, że zanim przyjęli obecną nazwę, funkcjonowali pod szyldem Trepidation i przez trzy lata również nagrali jedną EPkę. Obecnie muzycy rozsypali się po innych zespołach jak Grim Fate, Burial Remains czy Braincasket, w których to składy dołączyli przed rozpadem BOAL lub tuż po zamknięciu tegoż rozdziału. Poniżej kilka spostrzeżeń z ponownych odsłuchów "Infinite Deprivation".
Otóż, BOAL parał się Death Metalem i można by w sumie powiedzieć, że jego bardziej techniczną i brutalną odsłoną. Zdecydowanie nie jest to materiał dla ludzi zasłuchujących się wyłącznie w klasykach gatunku i tylko takich dźwięków wymagających od nowo powstałych zespołów. Trio z Freisland w strukturach swoich utworów sporo kombinowali i zdecydowanie nie stawiali w szeregach własnych inspiracji zespołów staro szkolnych Death Metalu. Bliżej im tutaj do stylistyki chociażby amerykańskiej jak Pathology, chociaż nie znajdziemy tutaj zbyt wielu elementów Slam. Trudno ich jednoznacznie szufladkować, nawet po upływie czasu od wydania albumu. Co zdecydowanie wystaje ponad i rzuca się w uszy to praca gitar oraz basu. Techniczne granie nie pozostawiające złudzeń, że kolesie mieli frajdę z nagrywania tej muzyki. Owszem, podejrzewam, że to dość trudna sprawa na takim poziomie techniki gry, ale efekt musiał cholernie satysfakcjonować. Mam tak samo. Czuję się świetnie gdy te tysiące pomysłów zawarte w tych 35 minutach atakują bezlitośnie moje neurony przetwarzając doznania na absolutną radochę. Wiadomo, chorą radochę, ale nie ma się tu czemu dziwić. Album został nagrany z pomocą automatu perkusyjnego, którego same zaprogramowanie to już kosmiczna sprawa ze względu na ilość zmian tempa, przyśpieszeń, przejść na tomach i różnych biciach centralek. I w tym mechanicznym chaosie rządzą gitary i jak już było powiedziane, ciężko to po prostu objąć umysłem przy kilku przesłuchaniach. Świetna sprawa. Wokalnie mamy tutaj natomiast niskie buczące growle i sprawdza się to jak cholera! Partie basu po prostu miażdżą, a gdy słychać przelewające się quasi jazzowe zagrywki... FUKK!!!!
"Infinite Deprivation" to album skierowany zdecydowanie do maniaków brutalnego grzania. Od techniki nie odpoczniecie, BOAL dopilnuje by wasz mózg zaczął krwawić. Dobrze było po latach wrócić do tego albumu. A kto nie ma, ruszać i zdobywać. Warto!

Dutchmen from BOAL quickly folded their sails and finished their activity. Or maybe not as much as quickly, but they didn't treat us with too many releases. I don't know what had an impact on such a hibernation of the band, but it must be admitted that from 2012 to 2019 one album and an EP is not much. The more so as before they adopted their current name, they functioned under the name Trepidation and for three years also recorded one EP. Currently, the musicians have scattered to other bands such as Grim Fate, Burial Remains or Braincasket, in which they joined before or just after BOAL's break-up. Here are some insights from re-listening to "Infinite Deprivation".
Well, BOAL was involved in Death Metal and one could say that its more technical and brutal version. Definitely, it's not the material for people listening only to the classics of the genre and demanding only such sounds from newly formed bands. The trio from Freisland did a lot of combining in the structure of their tracks and definitely did not put old school Death Metal bands among their inspirations. They are closer to American style like Pathology, although we won't find too many Slam elements here. It's hard to pigeonhole them unequivocally, even after the lapse of time since the album's release. What definitely sticks out and strikes your ears is the work of guitars and bass. Technical playing leaving no illusions that these guys had fun recording this music. Yes, I suppose it's quite a difficult thing to do at that level of playing technique, but the result must have been damn satisfying. I feel the same way. I feel great when the thousands of ideas contained in those 35 minutes mercilessly attack my neurons, transforming the sensations into absolute joy. Of course, sick joy, but there is no wonder. The album was recorded with the help of a drum machine, whose programming alone is a cosmic affair, due to the number of tempo changes, accelerations, transitions on toms and different beats of the drum-kicks. And in this mechanical chaos the guitars rule and, as it was already said, it's hard to comprehend with the mind after a few hearings. Great stuff. Vocally we have here low growls and it works like hell! The bass parts are simply crushing, and when you hear the overflowing quasi-jazz playing... FUKK!!!!
"Infinite Deprivation" is definitely an album addressed to the maniacs of brutal grinding. You will not rest from techniques of play, BOAL will make sure your brain starts bleeding. It was good to come back to this album after years. If you don't have it, go and get it. It's worth it!
