Ostatnimi czasy trochę rzadziej słuchałem muzyki z australijskiej sceny, ale skoro wpadł mi w ręce split dwóch australijskich projektów black metalowych, to musiałem natychmiast umieścić go w moim odtwarzaczu. Nie zawiodłem się. Pierwszy projekt, który uderza swoimi dźwiękami to RUNESPELL. Stworzył go Nightwolf znany z BLOOD STRONGHOLD i z wcześniejszych udziałów w NECROSTRIGIS ETERNUM czy DROWNING THE LIGHT. Zadebiutował on demówką wydaną w 2017 roku. Następnie na powierzchnię wypłynęły trzy albumy i recenzowany split. Druga połowa płyty należy do FOREST MYSTICISM. Powstał on w 2006 roku, a zadebiutował splitem z LARMES D'HIVERS w następnym roku. Od tamtej pory dyskografia powiększyła się o sześć pozycji. W 2019 roku ukazał się kolejny split z KRYPTA NICESTWA, co z pewnością pozwoliło bardziej poznać tę australijską nazwę w Polsce.

Pierwsze trzy utwory jakie usłyszymy w tym materiale, wykreował RUNESPELL. Zaczyna się delikatnie hipnotyzującymi klawiszami, by następnie uderzyć pełną dynamiką gitar i perkusji. Skojarzenia z ETERNUM? Cholera jasna! Jak najbardziej. Jednak to zupełnie inna muzyka, niż ta, która była zaprezentowana w tym kultowym i niestety już nieistniejącym zespole. Kiedy słychać w nowym projekcie duchy przeszłości, to bardzo mi to pasuje i mocno zagłębiam się w tę muzykę. Riffy gitar rozciągnięte są do monumentalnej sekcji tremolo utrzymanej głównie w średnich tempach, które w kolejnych utworach mocno zwalniają. Wolno płynąca muzyka wpada w łagodniejszy ton, bardzo mocno stawiając na klimat, który niemal rozgrzewa jakby płomieniem ogniska (lub płonącego kościoła). Z przesterowanych gitar muzyka przechodzi w akustyczne uderzenia. Prawdziwą moc słychać w perkusji, która wraz z flażoletami wydobytymi z gitar sprawia, że ożywa pradawny duch walki z dominującą ideologią, od wielu lat trawiącą ten świat niczym gangrena. Jeżeli chodzi o wokal, to początkowo trochę mi nie pasował, przez lekki pogłos, jednak po kilku przesłuchaniach tej płyty, uważam że bardzo pasuje do całej reszty. Jad wylewa się litrami z gardła, co dodaje tej muzyce demonicznego wydźwięku. Za kolejne trzy utwory odpowiada FOREST MYSTICISM, który od samego początku atakuje bardzo agresywnie. Ten australijski diabeł nie ma słabych punktów. Klimat przeplata się z pierwotną agresją, a co najciekawsze, jest dźwiękowo bardzo zbliżony do RUNESPELL, dzięki czemu brzmi to jakby muzyka była pisana wspólnie. Bo w tej części, która należy do drugiego projektu również usłyszymy zwolnienia i trochę mistycznych klawiszy, które budują tu nadzwyczajną atmosferę. Unosi się nad tą muzyką pewna otoczka wypełniona magią, która sprawia, że chce się chłonąć tę muzykę w całości, by metal popłynął w krwioobiegu. Riffy gitar również są zaaranżowane głównie pod dość prostą sekcję tremolo, co niemal brzmi jak wypowiedzenie wojny, jednak klawisze potrafią złagodzić to uczucie wprowadzają niemal w psychodeliczny trans, by umysł chociaż na chwilę w tej walce odpoczął. Bębny mają świetne, głębokie basowe brzmienie, które czuć niemal w sercu, próbującym dopasować się swym biciem do tego tempa. Wokal wchodzi równie dobrze jak cała reszta. To rozciągnięty skrzekliwy krzyk, który sprawia, że po ciele przebiega zimny dreszcz. Niewielkim minusem jest tylko i wyłącznie czas trwania tego krążka, który mieści się w ponad trzydziestu siedmiu minutach. Dla mnie to bardzo mało, bo muzyka wciąga i uzależnia od siebie. Ten split, to pozycja obowiązkowa, dla maniaków atmospheric black metalu. Na tym materiale nie można się zawieść.

Recently I've listened a little less often to music from the Australian scene, but since it fell into my hands a split of two Australian black metal projects, I had to put it into my player immediately. I was not disappointed. The first project that strikes with its sounds is RUNESPELL. It was created by Nightwolf known from BLOOD STRONGHOLD and from previous participations in NECROSTRIGIS, ETERNUM or DROWNING THE LIGHT. He debuted with a demo released in 2017. Then three albums and a reviewed split surfaced. The second half of the album belongs to FOREST MYSTICISM. It was released in 2006 and debuted with a split with LARMES D'HIVERS the following year. Since then the discography has grown by six positions. In 2019 another split with KRYPTA NICESTWA was released, which certainly made it possible to get to know this Australian name more in Poland.

The first three songs we will hear in this material were created by RUNESPELL. It starts with gently hypnotizing keyboards and then strikes with full guitar and drum dynamics. Associations with ETERNUM? Holy shit! Absolutely. However, this is a completely different music than the one presented in this cult and unfortunately no longer existent band. When the spirits of the past can be heard in the new project, it suits me very well and I delve deeply into this music. Guitar riffs are stretched to a monumental tremolo section maintained mainly in the medium tempo, which slows down strongly in subsequent tracks. Slowly flowing music falls into a milder tone, very much emphasizing the ambience, which almost warms up like a bonfire (or burning church). From overdriven guitars the music turns into acoustic beats. The real power can be heard in the drums, which, together with the flagolas extracted from the guitars, brings to life the ancient spirit of fighting the dominant ideology, which has been digesting in this world for many years like gangrene. As far as vocals are concerned, at first it didn't suit me a bit, due to a slight reverberation, but after a few hearings of this album, I think it fits the rest. The venom is poured out of the throat in liters, which gives this music a demonic sound. FOREST MYSTICISM is responsible for the next three tracks, which from the very beginning attacks very aggressively. This Australian devil has no weak points. The atmosphere intertwines with the original aggression, and what is most interesting, it is sonically very similar to RUNESPELL, so it sounds as if the music was written together. Because in this part, which belongs to the second project, we will also hear slowdowns and some mystical keys, which build an extraordinary atmosphere here. A certain atmosphere hovering over this music is filled with magic, which makes you want to absorb this music in its entirety, so that metal flows in your bloodstream. The guitar riffs are also arranged mainly under a fairly simple tremolo section, which almost sounds like a declaration of war, but the keyboards are able to soften this feeling by introducing almost a psychedelic trance so that the mind can rest for a while in this fight. The drums have a great, deep bass sound, which you can feel almost in your heart, trying to adjust your beating to this pace. The vocal enters as well as the rest. It's a stretched loud scream that makes your body shiver cold. The only downside is the duration of this album, which is in over thirty-seven minutes. For me it's very little, because the music is addictive and addictive. This split is a must, for atmospheric black metal maniacs. You cannot be disappointed with this material.
