CD, Astral Nightmare Productions, split 2020

Dwie germańskie hordy zjednoczyły siły z ekwadorskim projektem by nagrać potrójny split trwający niemal godzinę. Trzeba przyznać, że wydawnictwo wypadło nader treściwie, a Astral Nightmare Productions kolejny raz udowadnia wysoką jakość swoich wydawnictw. Przejdźmy zatem do szybkiego przedstawienia załóg, które znalazły się na tym splicie. NIGHTWALKER to jednoosobowy niemiecki projekt, który powstał w 2016 roku i ma na swoim koncie demo, dwie EPki, omawiany split oraz kompilację kasetową dwóch EPek. Kolejnym niemieckim przedstawicielem jest WINTERFULLMOON, który swoje początki datuje na 2019 rok. Mimo tego, horda ma na swoim koncie demo, EPkę i dwa splity. W skład tego trio wchodzą muzycy odpowiedzialni również za takie projekty jak chociażby Czarnobog, Funereus, Belzazel czy Necrogoat. Ostatnim z tej nieświętej trójcy, jest LORD FRIMOST, solowy projekt z egzotycznego Ekwadoru. Ukrywający się pod pseudonimem Infernal Warlord udziela się w kilku innych zespołach jak Arcanum Mortifer bądź Infernal Nekromantik. Początki projektu nie są jasno określone, ale pierwsze demo datowane jest na 2012 rok. W przypadku LORD FRIMOST mamy najbardziej bogatą dyskografię i znajdziemy tu demo, trzy splity, album, dwie epki i box kasetowy wydany przez Worship Tapes oraz box cd-r (po co kurwa komu cd-r w 2020 roku???) wydany przez Wulfhere Productions z Wielkiej Brytanii. A teraz przejdźmy do zawartości tegoż krążka.
Na początku wspomnę, że bardzo spodobał mi się pomysł, iż każdy z zespołów wykonał cover i - co ważne - nie są to oklepane utwory Darkthrone czy Mayhem - tymi coverami można już szczerze się zrzygać). NIGHTWALKER wziął na warsztat utwór Tiamat z debiutanckiego albumu, WINTERFULLMOON wskrzesił norweski Incarnator, a LORD FRIMOST przywołał chłód Weltmacht.
Pierwszy poraża nas absolutną aurą śmierci niemiecki NIGHTWALKER. Projekt ten wywołał spore zainteresowanie w podziemiu i muszę przyznać, że nie bez powodu. Black Metal jaki prezentuje N. ma w sobie olbrzymią dawkę pierwotnego Zła i jest niesamowicie mroźny. Mamy tu dwa utwory plus wspomniany cover. Muzyka jest nastawiona na raczej szybsze, blastujące partie, w których wyłaniają się duchy zapomnianego przez wielu Black Metalu, przerażającego i powodującego zaciskanie się pętli na gardle słuchacza. Może i nieco prymitywny, ale przecież taki ma być. Surowe brzmienie, jednak dobrze słyszalne i dalekie od kakofonicznych trzasków, pozwala wychwycić szczegóły i jeszcze bardziej zatopić się w czeluściach otchłani jaką odkrywa przed nami NIGHTWALKER. Osobiście jestem rozwalony tym brzmieniem! Pieprzone Zło, parszywość i ohyda. Totalnym plusem są również wokale, które brudem wdzierają się w umysł i sieją spustoszenie. A wykonanie "In the Shrines of the Kingly Dead" autorstwa Tiamat mnie zauroczyło. Nie sądziłem, że ten Death Metalowy klasyk można jeszcze bardziej podsycić Złem...
Drugą hordą jest również niemiecki WINTERFULLMOON, który zaprezentował trzy autorskie utwory plus cover norweskiego Incarnator. Projekt ten istniał od 1991 roku i pozostawił po sobie kapitalną demówkę "Nordic Holocaust" oraz taśmę promo z 1992 roku i ślad po nim zaginął. Wielka szkoda, bo kilka demówek by się jeszcze przydało. Trio zaczyna dość klimatycznie wyjącym wichrem wraz z bijącymi dzwonami i po chwili atakuje niczym sztylet skrytobójcy. Kolejny raz moja dusza jest rozerwana na strzępy, albowiem ich materiał absolutnie mnie zniszczył. Aura totalnie starożytnego Black Metalu z użyciem klawiszy wyryła na mnie piętno. Słuchając WINTERFULLMOON ma się wrażenie jakby się uczestniczyło w rytuale, dawno zapomnianym i przeklętym obrzędzie. Kolejny raz ukłony w stronę brzmienia, które hołduje starym czasom. Absolutnie bluźniercze riffy, porywające swą prostotą i kunsztem jednocześnie. Tutaj totalnie słychać, że ta trójka demonów wie co robi i czyni to z błogosławieństwem Rogatego. Na koniec absolutny deser w postaci coveru Norwegów. FUKK!!!!
Ostatnim, z dwoma utworami własnego autorstwa i coverem Weltmacht, jest ekwadorski LORD FRIMOST. Mamy tu zgoła inne podejście do interpretacji Black Metalu, ponieważ projekt jest najbardziej prymitywnym z całej trójcy oraz najbardziej surowym. W muzyce tej drzemie element większej desperacji, większego skupienia się na nieco innych aspektach niż wyłącznie prezentacja Zła. Wydaje mi się, że jest nieco bardziej bezpośrednia w swej prostej naturze i ze względu na swoje pochodzenie ukazuje również nieco inne oblicze tej muzyki. Oczywiście nie znajdziemy tu typowej furii charakterystycznej dla muzyki z Południowej Ameryki. Trudno określić pierwiastek, tę wytyczną, która wiodłaby prym w muzyce LORD FRIMOST. Nie oznacza to jednak, że materiałowi czegoś brakuje, bo absolutnie tak nie jest. Jest chory, pełen gniewu i również chłodny. Świetne wokale, trochę wpadające w tonacje Judas Iscariot, podobnie jak samo brzmienie. I najważniejsza sprawa - utwory są znacznie wolniejsze. Ot, konkretna rzecz, nawet bardzo konkretna, która jednak aż tak mnie nie zachwyciła jak w przypadku dwóch niemieckich projektów.
Split ten należy uznać za naprawdę godny posiadania. Przepełniony złowieszczą, piekielną atmosferą wywrze konkretne wrażenie na niejednym z maniaków Black Metalu. Osobiście bardzo polecam!

Two Germanic hordes joined forces with an Ecuadorian project to record a triple split lasting almost an hour. We must admit that the release was very concise and Astral Nightmare Productions once again proves the high quality of their releases. Let's get to the quick introduction of the bands featured on this split. NIGHTWALKER is a one-man German project that formed in 2016 and has a demo, two EPs, the discussed split and a cassette compilation of two EPs to its credit. Another German representative is WINTERFULLMOON, which dates its origins to 2019. Nevertheless, the horde has a demo, an EP and two splits to its credit. This trio includes musicians who are also responsible for projects such as Czarnobog, Funereus, Belzazel and Necrogoat, among others. The last of this unholy trinity is LORD FRIMOST, a solo project from exotic Ecuador. Hiding under the pseudonym of Infernal Warlord, he plays in a few other bands such as Arcanum Mortifer or Infernal Nekromantik. The beginnings of the project are not clearly defined, but the first demo is dated back to 2012. In the case of LORD FRIMOST we have the most extensive discography and here we find a demo, three splits, an album, two EPs and a cassette box released by Worship Tapes and a cd-r box (why the fuck would anyone need a cd-r in 2020??) released by Wulfhere Productions from the UK. And now let's get to the contents of this disc.
At the beginning I'd like to mention that I liked the idea that each of the bands played a cover and what's important, it wasn't the usual. NIGHTWALKER took Tiamat's song from their debut album, WINTERFULLMOON resurrected Norwegian Incarnator and LORD FRIMOST evoked the coldness of Weltmacht.
The first to shock us with the absolute aura of death is German NIGHTWALKER. This project caused a lot of interest in the underground and I must admit that not without reason. Black Metal presented by N. has a huge dose of primordial Evil in it and it's incredibly chilling. There are two tracks plus the mentioned cover. The music is focused on rather faster, blasting parts, in which the ghosts of forgotten by many Black Metal emerge, terrifying and causing the loop to tighten around the listener's throat. Maybe a bit primitive, but it's what it's supposed to be. Raw sound, however well audible and far from cacophonous crackles, allows us to catch details and sink even more into the depths of the abyss that NIGHTWALKER reveals before us. Personally, I am blown away by this sound! Fucking Evil, vile and disgusting. Total plus are also the vocals, which are dirty and wreak havoc. And the rendition of "In the Shrines of the Kingly Dead" by Tiamat charmed me. I didn't think that this Death Metal classic could be further fueled by Evil....
The second horde is also German WINTERFULLMOON, which presented three original songs plus a cover of Norwegian Incarnator. The project existed since 1991 and left behind a great demo "Nordic Holocaust" and a promo tape from 1992, but the trace of it disappeared. It's a great pity, because a few more demos would have been useful. The trio starts quite atmospherically with a howling wind along with tolling bells and after a while it attacks like a stealthy assassin's dagger. Once again my soul is torn to shreds as their material absolutely destroyed me. The aura of totally ancient Black Metal with the use of keys made a mark on me. Listening to WINTERFULLMOON you have an impression as if you were participating in a ritual, long forgotten and cursed rite. Once again I bow to the sound which pays tribute to the old times. Absolutely blasphemous riffs, thrilling with their simplicity and artistry at the same time. Here you can totally hear that the three demons know what they are doing and they do it with Rogate's blessing. At the end an absolute dessert in a form of Norwegian cover. FUKK!!!!
The last one, with two tracks of their own authorship and a cover of Weltmacht, is Ecuadorian LORD FRIMOST. Here we have a completely different approach to interpreting Black Metal, as the project is the most primitive of the three, and the most raw. There is an element of more desperation in this music, more focus on slightly different aspects than just presenting Evil. It seems to me that it is a bit more direct in its simple nature and because of its origin it also shows a bit different face of this music. Of course you won't find here typical fury characteristic for the music from South America. It is difficult to determine the element, the guideline, which would lead the way in the music of LORD FRIMOST. It does not mean, however, that the material lacks something, because it absolutely does not. It is sick, full of anger and also cold. Great vocals, a little bit falling into the tone of Judas Iscariot, just like the sound. And most important is - it is way slower pace here. Just a specific thing, even very specific, which, however, did not delight me as much as in the case of two German projects.
This split should be considered as really worth having. Filled with sinister, infernal atmosphere will make a definite impression on many Black Metal maniacs. Personally highly recommended!
