W moje ręce wpadła dziś bardzo konkretna płyta, a właściwie to wpadła już jakiś czas temu, ale postanowiłem sobie odświeżyć ten materiał i muszę stwierdzić, że wciąż mnie nie zawodzi. To totalny strzał w mordę, a chłopaki z zespołu w tańcu się nie pierdolą, i udowadniają, że Niemcy bardzo dobrze grają metal. Powołany do życia SHROUD OF SATAN w 2012 roku dorobił się dwóch albumów, dwóch splitów i jednej ep. Skład tej kapeli tworzy trzech muzyków znanych z udziału pod takimi nazwami jak: SHORES OF LADON, FULLMOON LEGACY, THORYBOS, czy BALNASAR oraz kilka innych.
O tym, że Of Evil Descent jest znakomitym materiałem, przekonywać zbyt długo nie trzeba. Wystarczy włączyć by po paru chwilach przekonać się że tak właśnie jest. Zetkniemy się tu z surowym black metalem utrzymanym w klimacie pierwszej połowy lat dziewięćdziesiątych. Chociaż SHROUD OF SATAN to zespół z Niemiec to ich muzyka bardzo wpasowuje się w fińskie brzmienie, co pozytywnie zaskakuje. Tempa na tym materiale ulegają zmianie, a przeważają szybkie. Riffy gitar wspaniale łączą melodyjne tremolo z harmonijnymi akordami. Gitara basowa nisko niesie dźwięki, które po prostu wgniatają w glebę. Bardzo dobrze oceniam pracę bębnów, które w połączeniu z resztą instrumentów, wydają z siebie dudnienie zdające się falować. Wokal, chociaż odrobinę zagłuszony przez ścianę gitar, to czuć w nim niebywałą energię, przepełnioną agresją i jadem. Zwykle utrzymany w formie typowego skrzeku, potrafi też wejść w czyste brzmienie, nadające ciekawego klimatu. Sporadycznie pojawiają się również klawisze, które tworzą bardzo podniosłą atmosferę. Muzyka pomimo, że niesie ze sobą dużo melodii, pozostaje agresywna, a intensywność dźwięków, wbija się w umysł, niczym sztylet wbijany w ofiarę. Dynamika sprawia, że noga bezwiednie porusza się w rytm muzyki. Jak na album przystało, Of Evil Descent nie jest jakoś imponująco długim materiałem, bowiem w czasie poniżej trzydziestu siedmiu minut upchnięto sześć utworów. Muzyka szybko się kończy, wymuszając ode mnie ponowne wciskanie klawisza play, by znów zanurzyć się w ten mrok.

I got my hands on a very special album today, actually it was released some time ago but I decided to refresh the material and I must say that it still doesn't disappoint me. It's a total killer, and the guys in the band don't fuck around and prove that Germans play metal very well. Formed in 2012, SHROUD OF SATAN has earned two albums, two splits and one ep. The line-up of this band consists of three musicians known from participation under such names as SHORES OF LADON, FULLMOON LEGACY, THORYBOS, or BALNASAR and several others.
It doesn't take too long to convince that Of Evil Descent is an excellent material. Just turn it on and after a few moments you will see that it is so. We will encounter here a raw black metal maintained in the atmosphere of the first half of the nineties. Although SHROUD OF SATAN is a band from Germany, their music fits very well into the Finnish sound, which is positively surprising. The tempos on this material change and fast ones prevail. Guitar riffs wonderfully combine melodic tremolo with harmonious chords. The bass guitar carries low sounds, which simply crush into the ground. The drums work very well, which in combination with the rest of the instruments, produce a rumble that seems to wave. Vocals, although a bit drowned out by the wall of guitars, you can feel the incredible energy in them, filled with aggression and venom. Usually kept in the form of a typical screech, it can also enter the pure tone, giving an interesting mood. Occasionally there are also keyboards, which create a very uplifting atmosphere. Music, despite the fact that it carries a lot of melody, remains aggressive, and the intensity of the sounds, stabs into the mind, like a dagger driven into the victim. As befits an album, Of Evil Descent is not an impressively long material, because six tracks are crammed into under thirty-seven minutes. The music ends quickly, forcing me to press the play button again in order to dive into the darkness again.
