Od jakiegoś czasu ostatni album DEPARTURE CHANDELIER umykał mi ze względu na wybór innych płyt. Teraz jednak jestem w jego posiadaniu. Nie dziwi mnie obrany styl przez muzyków - określają swoją sztukę jako "Napoleonic War Black Metal", a sama postać Napoleona nie jest tylko i wyłącznie odniesieniem do historii. Był to genialny strateg wojenny, ale w niektórych kręgach jest określany mianem Antychrysta. Pierwsze wydawnictwo zespołu ukazało się w 2011 roku, obecnie w dyskografii znajdziemy cztery pozycje wśród których jest tylko jeden album. Skład kapeli to trójka muzyków, którzy również znani są z udziału w wielu innych projektach.
Na Antichrist Rise to Power znalazło się osiem utworów, z których Intro i Outro są numerami instrumentalnymi, a całość łącznie trwa ponad trzydzieści cztery minuty. Materia muzyczna zaczyna się bardzo niewinnie klawiszowym wstępem, osadzonym w klimatach dungon synth, by już w kolejnym utworze dorzucić pełne spektrum instrumentów - z gitarą na przedzie. Muzyka uzyskuje dużą dawkę dynamiki, dzięki czemu melodia wydobywa się bez trudu i zapada w pamięci. Atmosferę budują posępne klawisze, które momentami bardzo zachwycają swą melodyjnością, a w innych pełnią rolę tła, które tworzy rozmytą aurę wokół gitarowych riffów. Jeśli chodzi o tempa, to spodziewałem się szybszego grania, tymczasem muzyka oscyluje wokół średnich prędkości i przy tak prostych akordach, na prawdę dobrze się to sprawdza. Riffy gitar oparte są na sekcji rytmicznej, przeplatającej się z tremolo, a całość jak już wcześniej wspomniałem opiera się na prostocie w wykonaniu, jednak pomimo tego rodzi się tu mroczna i agresywna atmosfera, rozsiewająca wokół siebie odór siarki i prochu strzelniczego, jak na polu bitewnym. Zło wisi w powietrzu. Perkusja w moim odczuciu jest jakby trochę za cicho, ale z pewnością jest to zabieg celowy, by bardziej wyeksponować klawisze, po za tym nie mam nic do zarzucenia. Klawisze z jednej strony pełnią rolę tła, by następnie wyjść bardziej do przodu i przyciągnąć uwagę melodią. W niektórych utworach syntezator przechodzi w formę chóru, co też dodaje interesującego klimatu i może nie każdemu to przypadnie do gustu ale mi taki klimat w pełni odpowiada. Do pełni trzeba wspomnieć o wokalu, który brzmi, jakby pochodził z rozkopanego grobu. Jest przegniły, chropowaty i bardzo obskurny, jakby sama śmierć wyśpiewała mroczne wersety. Płyta zdecydowanie jest przeznaczona do wielokrotnych przesłuchań i gwarantuję, że będziecie często wracać do niej.

DEPARTURE CHANDELIER's latest album has eluded me for some time due to my choice of other albums. But now I am in its possession. I am not surprised by the style chosen by the musicians - they describe their art as "Napoleonic War Black Metal" and the figure of Napoleon himself is not just a reference to history. He was a brilliant war strategist, but in some circles he is referred to as the Antichrist. The first release of the band came out in 2011, currently in the discography there are four positions among which there is only one album. The band consists of three musicians, who are also known for participating in many other projects.
On Antichrist Rise to Power there are eight tracks, of which Intro and Outro are instrumental pieces and the whole thing lasts over thirty-four minutes. The music matter begins very innocently with a keyboard introduction, set in the atmosphere of dungon synth, to add a full spectrum of instruments in the next track - with the guitar at the front. The music gets a large dose of dynamics, thanks to which the melody comes out easily and becomes memorable. The atmosphere is built by the gloomy keyboards, which at times are very delightful with their melodiousness, and at others play the role of the background, which creates a fuzzy aura around the guitar riffs. As for the tempos, I expected faster playing, but the music oscillates around medium speeds and with such simple chords, it really works well. Guitar riffs are based on the rhythm section, interweaving with tremolo, and the whole thing, as I've already mentioned, is based on simplicity in performance, but despite that, a dark and aggressive ambience is born here, spreading the stench of sulfur and gunpowder, like on a battlefield. Evil hangs in the air. The drums in my opinion are a little too quiet, but it's certainly intentional, in order to expose the keys more, apart from that I have nothing to complain about. On the other hand I have nothing against it. The keys on the one hand act as a background, and then come to the front and draw attention to the melody. In some tracks synthesizer turns into a chorus, which also adds an interesting atmosphere and maybe it will not be to everyone's liking, but I enjoy it. To the fullness I have to mention the vocal, which sounds as if it came from a dug up grave. It is rotten, rough and very sickly, as if death itself sang the dark verses. The album is definitely meant to be played over and over again, and I guarantee that you will come back to it often.
