Szósty album Ukraińców z ULVEGR ukazał się 1 lutego tego roku. Nie za często opisujemy tutaj takie 'świeżynki', bo i nigdzie się nam nie spieszy. Nie zmienia to jednak faktu, że "Isblod" to naprawdę solidna dawka Black Metalu osadzonego w tradycyjnym klimacie bez zbędnych innowacji. Ten dwuosobowy projekt powstał w 2009 roku i na koncie ma jedynie pełne albumy. Dość nietypowe podejście, ale czy w dzisiejszych czasach coś nas jeszcze dziwi?
"Isblod' to sześć utworów zamykających się w niecałych trzydziestu minutach. Co jest zdecydowanie zauważalne już na samym wstępie albumu, że przyłożono tutaj sporą wagę do brzmienia materiału. Zachowując odpowiednią ilość brudu, wypchnięto na przód bardzo dynamicznie brzmiące gitary, które w symbiozie z bardzo dobrze zarejestrowaną perkusją, tworzą niemal ścianę dźwięku. Szkopuł jednak w tym, że w tej rzekomej ścianie dźwięku, bardzo swobodnie można rozróżnić poszczególne instrumenty, które nie zlewają się w jednolity hałas. I tak jak w wielu przypadkach nie byłbym za tak bardzo czytelnym brzmieniem, tak w przypadku ULVEGR sprawdza się to w 100%. Utwory oscylują w okolicach czterech minut, poza tytułowym, który muszę przyznać, że oferuje najwięcej. Świetna praca w balansowaniu atmosferą utworu, wplecieniem gitar bez przesterowania, a z drugiej strony blastująca lawina z świetnie słyszalnymi blackami i najmniejszymi akcentami. Praca gitar po części przypomina nieco starsze nagrania Marduka, ale to takie dość luźne skojarzenie jakie przyszło mi na myśl przy n-tym słuchaniu krążka. Kolejna ważna sprawa, to fakt, że Ukraińcy radzą sobie bardzo dobrze zarówno w przypadku tych ultra szybkich partii oraz w pozostałych - średnich i wolniejszych. Riffy są w większości zagrane akordami, ale nie brakuje też melodyjnej pracy tremolo. Solidnie, bardzo solidnie to brzmi. Linie basu nie są za mocno wysunięte na przody, a mimo to instrument ten wyraźnie zaznacza swoją obecność. Perkusja - polecam przesłuchać ten album choćby raz właśnie pod kątem skupienia się na partiach tego instrumentu. Cholernie dobra robota. Na koniec pozostają wokale, które w tradycyjnej barwie dla Black Metalu zarażają słuchacza pogańskim mistycyzmem. "Isblod" to naprawdę bardzo dobry album, skierowany do tej części maniaków, którzy nie czują potrzeby odkrywania nowych płaszczyzn w tym gatunku. Obadajcie hordę, wspierajcie, bo warto.

The sixth album of the Ukrainians from ULVEGR was released on February 1st this year. We don't often describe such 'freshness' here, because we're not in a hurry anywhere. However, it doesn't change the fact that "Isblod" is a really solid dose of Black Metal set in a traditional atmosphere without any unnecessary innovations. This two-man project was formed in 2009 and has only full albums to their credit. Quite an atypical approach, but is anything still surprising nowadays?
"Isblod' is six tracks closing in less than thirty minutes. What is definitely noticeable from the very beginning of the album is that a lot of attention has been paid to the sound of the material. Keeping an appropriate amount of dirt, very dynamic sounding guitars were pushed to the front, which in symbiosis with very well recorded drums, create almost a wall of sound. The thing is, however, that in this alleged wall of sound, you can very easily distinguish individual instruments that do not blend into a uniform noise. And just as in many cases I would not be in favor of such a very clear sound, in the case of ULVEGR it works 100%. The tracks oscillate around four minutes, except for the title one, which I must admit offers the most. Great work in balancing the atmosphere of the song, incorporating guitars without overdrive, and on the other hand a blasting avalanche with perfectly audible blacks and the smallest accents. The guitar work partly reminds of the older Marduk recordings, but it's just a loose association which came to my mind after the n-th listening of the album. Another important thing is the fact that the Ukrainians do very well both in the ultra fast parts and in the rest - medium and slower ones. Riffs are mostly played with chords, but there is also melodic tremolo work. It sounds solid, very solid. The bass lines are not too much in the forefront, yet this instrument clearly marks its presence. The drums - I recommend listening to this album at least once to focus on the parts of this instrument. Damn good job. Finally, there are the vocals, which in a traditional Black Metal timbre infect the listener with pagan mysticism. "Isblod" is really a very good album, aimed at that part of the geeks who don't feel the need to explore new grounds in this genre. Check out the horde, support them, because it's worth it.
