VERMINOUS zapewne jest znany sporej ilości osób, które od jakiegoś czasu siedzą w podziemiu. Jako, że wczoraj i dzisiaj przypominałem sobie dźwięki ich albumów, postanowiłem też co nieco o jednym z nich napisać. Szwedzi powstali w 2002 roku by zaraz w 2004 roku zawiesić działalność. W tym okresie powstała debiutancka EPka oraz debiutancki album. Sami przyznacie, że chłopaki mieli niezłe tempo i nie próżnowali. Kolejnym krokiem w historii zespołu jest krótkotrwała reaktywacja zespołu w latach 2012-2013. Ten okres zaowocował natomiast opisywanym tu albumem "The Unholy Communion", ale ponownie krótko po wydaniu materiału panowie zawinęli cały bajzel i wieści o nich przepadły. Cóż, mi pozostaje radować się przy dźwiękach co to zostały wykute przez Szwedów w śmierć metal.
Powodem zawiesznia działalności zespołu w latach 2004-2012 były problemy ze słuchem Linus "Germaniac" Björklunda, który obecnie udziela się w Heavy / Doom Metalowym Lucifer. Drugi album VERMINOUS to konkretny Death Metal, który jak się można łatwo domyślić jest utrzymany w dość old schoolowej formule. Po niecałym minutowym intrze otrzymujemy bardzo intensywny Death Metal mocno nastawiony na siłę kompozycji oraz ich dosadność. Przewijające się melodie w riffach gitar są totalnie chore, wzbudzają obrzydzenie swoją pełnią jadu i - cholera jasna - nie ukrywam zachwytu jaki mi towarzyszy przy tych dźwiękach. Album ma już kilka lat, a słucha się go wybornie niczym jakiegoś klasyka. Praca gitar w duże mierze bazuje na sekcjach tremolo, pojawiają się jednak też momenty bardziej rytmiczne grane akordami. Należy też wspomnieć o solówkach, które bezsprzecznie nadają jeszcze większego barbarzyństwa w muzyce zespołu. Co jednak dość zaskakujące, to fakt, że zespół nie korzysta z rozwiązań stylistycznych Szwedzkiego Death Metalu, a bardziej celuje w połączenie Amerykańskiej i Europejskiej. Niewiele się takowych rozwiązań obserwuje, częściej napotykamy przecież zespoły z całego globu czerpiące garściami właśnie z Szwedzkiego brzmienia i specyficznych aranżacji. Utwory uderzają jeden po drugim powalając intensywnością, prędkościami oraz dzikością. Właśnie ta ostatnia cecha jest tu najbardziej uwypuklona. Zapewne duży wpływ na takową sytuację mają tutaj wściekłe wokale. Germaniac operuje gardłowymi krzykami, przeplata je z growlami i wychodzi to nader piekielnie! Powtórzę się, ale album jest po prostu cholernie intensywny i to jest jego wielką zaletą. Dobra, koniec tych wywodów, wracam do słuchania gwałtownej żywiołowości jaką bez wątpienia jest "The Unholy Communion".

VERMINOUS is probably known to a considerable number of people who have been active in the underground for some time now. As yesterday and today I recalled the sounds of their albums, I decided to write something about one of them. The Swedes came into being in 2002 only to suspend their activity in 2004. During this period they made their debut EP and debut album. You must admit that the guys had a good pace and did not idle. The next step in the band's history is a short-lived reactivation in 2012-2013, which resulted in the album "The Unholy Communion" described here, but again, shortly after releasing the material, the guys wrapped up the whole mess and the news about them was lost. Well, I can only enjoy the sounds which were forged by the Swedes into death metal.
The reason for the band's suspension in 2004-2012 was hearing problems of Linus "Germaniac" Björklund, who currently plays in Heavy / Doom Metal band Lucifer. I guess the reason for the end of the band could be similar, but I honestly admit that this is my guess. I don't think I can recall reading an interview or information somewhere at the time that would confirm this. Anyway, it's hardly relevant now anyway. So let's move on to Unholy Communion. The second album of VERMINOUS is a definite Death Metal, which, as you can easily guess, is kept in quite an old school formula. After less than one minute intro we get very intensive Death Metal strongly focused on the power of compositions and their bluntness. The scrolling melodies in the guitar riffs are totally sick, they arouse disgust with their full venom and - damn it - I can't hide the admiration that accompanies these sounds. The album is a couple of years old now, but it's great to listen to, like some classic. The guitar work is largely based on tremolo sections, but there are also some more rhythmic moments played with chords. It is also necessary to mention the solos, which undoubtedly add even more barbarism to the band's music. What is quite surprising, however, is the fact that the band does not use the stylistic solutions of Swedish Death Metal, but aims more at the combination of American and European. You don't see such solutions much, after all, more often we come across bands from all over the globe drawing on Swedish sound and specific arrangements. Tracks strike one after another knocking down with their intesiveness, speed and ferocity. This last feature is the most emphasized here. The furious vocals probably have a big influence on this situation. Germaniac operates with throaty screams, interweaves them with growls and it comes out as hell! I'll repeat myself, but the album is just too damn intense and that's its great advantage. All right, enough of that, I'm going back to listening to the violent impetuosity, which "The Unholy Communion" undoubtedly is.
