Na dzisiaj zaplanowałem swoistą podróż w czasie do wspaniałych lat dziewięćdziesiątych, gdzie muzyka naturalnie wchłaniała się w organizm, a żyłami płynął metal. Płyta, której właśnie słucham została wydana u schyłku XX wieku, w 1998 roku. Zespół, który przyczynił się do powstania tych dźwięków to włoski WINGED, grający mieszankę death / black metalu. Powstał on w 1991 roku, a lata jego aktywności zmieniały się kilka razy, by od 2006 roku po dziś dzień pozostać w muzycznej gotowości. Przez szeregi tej kapeli przewinęło się wielu muzyków, a w obecnym składzie hordy jest czterech muzyków, którzy udzielają się również w takich zespołach jak: ANGEL OF ANGER, CIRCUMVENTOR, czy DOUBLESION. W dyskografii znajdziemy cztery dema, jeden album, kompilację oraraz EP.
From the Arcane Burning Legions to album wydany w 1998 roku na nośniku CD-R, na szczęście niedawno, bo w 2019 roku materiał ten ukazał się na profesjonalnie tłoczonym krążku, dzięki The Ritual Productions. Album ten zawiera dziesięć utworów, które łącznie trwają przez ponad czterdzieści cztery minuty, a pierwszy i ostatni numer, to utwory instrumentalne. Muzyka łączy ze sobą dwa gatunki - black metal z death metalem, dorzucając dość sporą dawkę klawiszy, które świetnie by się wpasowały w atmosferę dungeon synth, otrzymano na tej płycie niemal pogańską atmosferę pełną magii i swoistego folkloru minionych i zapomnianych wieków. To co uderza podobieństwem do tego co już znane to na pewno patenty stosowane przez DEATH, które wyraźnie wbijają się w głowę. Czerpiąc pełnymi garściami riffy z black metalu, uzyskano bardzo oryginalne dzieło, które nie popada w zapomnienie. Riffy gitar w dużej mierze oparte są na tremolo, co pozwala na wyplucie bardzo chwytliwych melodii. Pojawia się również sekcja rytmiczna, która kreuje bardziej monumentalny dźwięk, oparty na dynamice. Gitara basowa nadaje muzyce idealnej głębi, która wgniata w ziemie i niemal powoduje rezonans w klatce piersiowej, który próbuje zatrzymać oddech. Perkusja doskonale wpasowuje się w zmienne tempa, może ma lekko przytłumiony dźwięk na blachach, ale w niczym to nie przeszkadza, bo reszta zmusza stopę do rytmicznych uderzeń w rytm dźwięków, które wylewają się z tej płyty. Wokal z niesamowitym pierwiastkiem typowym dla black metalu, bardzo skrzekliwy, niemal odzierający gardło do krwi, ale potrafiący również zaskoczyć melodyjnością i czystymi partiami. Pozostały jeszcze klawisze, które jak wspomniałem wcześniej, równie dobrze by pasowały do muzyki z gatunku dungeon synth, jednak swoją rolę doskonale spełniają w muzyce ekstremalnej, wnosząc do niej mnóstwo atmosfery, która działa mocno na wyobraźnię, niosąc ze sobą wiele melodii, sprawia, że muzyczna całość tego albumu pozostaje na zupełnie innym poziomie, trudnym do zaszufladkowania. Być może płyta nie trafi do wielu odbiorców, ale na pewno nie musi trafić do wielu. Ważne, by podobała się garstce, którzy docenią dźwięki, które wykreował WINGED i będą wracać do tego materiału.

For today I have planned a kind of time travel to the glorious nineties, where music was naturally absorbed into the body and metal flowed through the veins. The album I'm listening to right now was released at the end of the 20th century, in 1998. The band that contributed to these sounds is Italian WINGED, playing a mixture of death / black metal. It was formed in 1991, and the years of its activity have changed several times, to remain in musical readiness since 2006 until today. Many musicians passed through the ranks of this band and in the current line-up of the horde there are four musicians, who are also involved in such bands as: ANGEL OF ANGER, CIRCUMVENTOR, or DOUBLESION. In their discography we can find four demos, one album, compilation and one EP.
From the Arcane Burning Legions is an album released in 1998 on CD-R, fortunately recently, in 2019, this material was released on a professionally pressed disc, thanks to The Ritual Productions. This album contains ten tracks that run for over forty-four minutes in total, with the first and last number, being instrumental tracks. The music combines two genres - black metal with death metal, adding quite a dose of keyboards, which would fit perfectly into the atmosphere of dungeon synth, you get on this album an almost pagan atmosphere full of magic and a kind of folklore of past and forgotten centuries. What strikes one with the resemblance to what is already known are certainly the patents used by DEATH, which clearly stick in the head. Drawing full handfuls of riffs from black metal, a very original work was obtained, which does not fall into oblivion. The guitar riffs are largely based on tremolo, which allows spit out very catchy melodies. There is also a rhythm section that creates a more monumental sound, based on dynamics. The bass guitar gives the music a perfect depth that crushes you into the ground and almost causes a resonance in your chest that tries to stop your breath. The percussion fits perfectly into the changing tempos, maybe it has a slightly muffled sound on the sheet metal, but it doesn't hinder it in any way, because the rest of it forces the foot to rhythmically hit the rhythm of the sounds that pour out of this album. Vocals with an amazing element typical for black metal, very noisy, almost stripping the throat to the blood, but also able to surprise with melodiousness and clean parts. There are also keyboards, which, as I've mentioned before, would fit just as well to dungeon synth music, but they play their role perfectly in extreme music, bringing a lot of atmosphere, which works strongly on the imagination, carrying a lot of melodies, makes the musical whole of this album remains on a completely different level, difficult to pigeonhole. Perhaps the album will not reach many recipients. It is important that it will appeal to a handful of people who will appreciate the sounds created by WINGED and will return to this material.
